Comic Con Africa interview with Yetide Badaki from American Gods

sunshinetoday:

Diona: I work for a geek publication [Vamers], so it is really nice to have an incredibly inspiring African woman representing us. I wanted to ask, what has been your most memorable experience since becoming an actor?

So I have had this moment where I got to do a guest role on a show with David Duchovny, and I remember I had to sit, and he is right there in front of me, and in my head it is just… over and over all I hear is “David Duchovny, David Duchovny, David Duchovny” and I am going “wait remember your lines, remember your lines – David Duchovny, David Duchovny”, and it was just – for a geek I mean, that was heaven. It was almost unbelievable! I almost needed someone to pinch me, you know, and this happens with me a lot. It happens every time I get to see, you know, I mean yes, David Duchovny… fuck right?! It is seeing Gillian Anderson work, it is seeing, you know, Crispen Glover; and each time I get to work with these incredible individuals, there is still that inner child, that geek; that little girl in Nigeria sitting in front of that TV and she is sitting there across from what feels like a dream…

I suffer ill health and get very bad panic attacks in crowded places. I live about 18 miles from Manchester and would have loved to go to David’s gig. I would not pay for a meet and greet though. I am not a fan of BD, I ordered the cd and lyric book on the 6th July 17, by the end of March this year, nothing so I cancelled and got a full refund. If I had not I would still be waiting, that puts me off even buying a gig ticket. I am not well enough to go but if I were I would be reluctant. 😢

I’m really sorry for you anon, but you know, karma is a thing. One day, you’ll get your chance, and Brad will be away scamming other people. ❤
