The people who have always made fun of us are basically doing the same thing we were doing for years and which was, in their opinion, disrespectful towards Gillian and embarressing. If I had any respect left for those blogs, I lost it when they congratulated Gillian and Peter Morgan on their relationship and added the link to Page Six. You know how this felt? I couldn’t slap my forehead hard enough to understand how on earth they thought that this is the thing to do (even if they, as they claim, knew all along). Now they’re all besotted and happy for Gillian and Peter, acting like this is the cutest thing ever, as if their hearts have been in this for the longest time. That is ridiculous! The only reason they act like that is us and wanting to let us know that we were wrong. And you know, even if we were, and I am absolutely okay with admitting that when Gillian shows or tells me, it wouldn’t take away all the happiness and love we got from David and Gillian, no matter how hard some blogs try to beat it out of us.
The hypocrisy running rampant within this circle of PM + GA shippers is absolute madness. Aggravating yes, surprising no. I dare you, my fellow ddga fans, go back and do a quick tumblr search of these various blog names either on your own blogs or a simple Google search. I guarantee you’ll find some glowing ‘essay’ and outburst of pure elation toward David and Gillian during any one of the hundreds of sweet gillovny moments. These PM lovers often broke down faster than us supposed ‘snoggers’. Squeeing all over the damn place that DD + GA have gots to be fuckin’ or that Gillian’s feral tweets towards David were somehow proof that, though a long distance relationship proves impossible, David remains Gillian’s fuck buddy stateside. Do y’all realize how embarrassingly disrespectful these implications are? To both David and Gillian. Oh, but wait, it’s perfectly okay for their circle of rationale to make these harmfull assumptions. Because they say so, because they’ve met Gillian/David and they ‘respect’ their numerous printed denials of romance because there’s no way Gillian would choose to love a man like David. She’s a deity with no human flaws, no mind of her own, no memory! and David is a man whore Ogre who sucks the very royal-like essence from her godlike existence. All her fits of giggles, heart eyes and outright statements of affection: ‘i’m with schmoopie’, ‘my very own duchovny’, ‘i’ll be right beside you when i die’, ‘i could’ve sworn @davidduchovny was an extra large’, ‘now! this is how i like my mulder’, ‘mulder flow’, ‘he still looks good in jeans!’ ‘david and i…’gillian and i…’, ‘our comradery and proper adult friendship’, ‘we’ve grown very fond of each other, in our dotage, and um, he’s a lovely man’, ‘especially one of you’, ‘my shining star’. All of it promotion!! Whatttt?? PUHLEASE.
Here we are, genuine ddga fans, loving every beautiful and honest gillovny moment because, get this!, it’s precious to see these two enjoy each other’s company–no matter their romantic status. They love each other, respect one another and support one another vehemently. David and Gillian capture the hearts of many simply because they glow when together. They radiate happiness and a level of comfort & intimacy so undeniably sexy & sweet it’s almost blinding. This is what draws us gillovny fans!
For a majority of us on tumblr who celebrate all that is David and Gillian, we do so peacefully. We’re not here to mock those who don’t see what we see, we’re not here to label an entire community of fans derogatory terms as some manipulative scheme to diminish their existence or that of David and Gillian’s history. Nope. Our conscious clear, but our hearts heavy. How dare anyone suggest we are malicious, we are the problem, we are the cancerous breakdown of a fandom. I REFFUSE to let any one of these fickle bloggers paint me in such a light. I’m no follower, I lead my own Gillovny appreciation march. I spread no hate, I blog openly and respectfully. Always. I love and appreciate them equally. As parents, as people, as activists and artists, actors and lovers of all things beautiful. What sparks between them is pure, not a moment’s falseness. To quote from their mutual friend and XF creator, Chris Carter:
This is true and so strange. I saw it on my dash back even before Christmas, when there were some people convinced that HB was a coming out for Gillian and PM. I’ve seen people say that Gillian was unhappy during the Paley panel because David touched her too many times during it, that when David brushed her breast during the BTS outtake that Gillian was upset because she didn’t want to him touching her since she was already with PM (despite this not being true), that her driving tweet was a dig at David because she was displeased he talked about her, that her look into the camera during WWHL was for PM and not David, and that (suddenly, they agree!) Gillian *was* glowing last year, and was happy, but it wasn’t because of David, it was because she was with PM. It’s offensive to Gillian, in my opinion, to start rewriting everything and adding PM into it. Can I point out that whenever someone in the Gillovny fandom even tries to suggest that something has to do with David or is because of David, we’re shouted down, made fun of and reminded that not everything is because of David and that Gillian doesn’t need a man.
Yet…suddenly…they’re attaching everything to PM.
I think one of the more head-shaking things is when I’ve read, in the last month, that Gillian never really meant David is her BFF. She was doing that for PR, according to some, and when David said she would be part of his life, he didn’t mean as a friend or partner, he meant as a former co-star. If there’s something to revise, you can bet they’ve already taken care of it.
A lot of what they say is a combination of them believing it as well as getting a kick out of trying to poke at the Gillovny fandom and aggravate people who can’t shut them out.

Gillovny is not some mythical creature living in the confines of our pea-sized minds. Nuh uh, there is love. It exists and it is real af. Case closed.
