There are few television partnerships more iconic than Special Agents Mulder and Scully from FOX’s The X Files.  While yes, the actors behind the characters have been coworkers for going on 26 years, their real life friendship has always been goals. David Duchovny reminded us of this fact with his lovely message to Gillian Anderson today.

Seriously, I need some help here… wtf is wrong with DD? Today G received her star and he just posted a pic on Brick’s Ig before the ceremony and now he’s just posted a pic of his novel… but he doesn’t say anything to G… plus, do you remember G’s beautiful wrap tweet to him? He didn’t replied or liked the tweet, instead, “Brick” replied … is he annoyed? Or wtf? Any idea?? :(

I’m really don’t know. I’m a bit disappointed that he didn’t acknowledged her more than that. His message was nice but I guess I was expecting more. It’s still early in LA, I’m still hoping he’ll tweet something. Mitch did, Anabeth was there, and Joel McHale spoke. It was also an XF event and it’s quite sad that David doesn’t put much into it. I assume they talk to each other a lot, and discuss these things beforehand. I guess David not being there and sending this exact message was something Gillian knew about and agreed on and I don’t believe she resents him for not being there. I think they both agreed on that. But if it’s not for her, I wish he would do that for us. 

Gillian did all the hard work during the filming, sharing bts and all. David only allowed someone to create and run an account for his dog. I think it’s time he gets out of his non-social-media bubble and communicates with the fans a bit more. I get his fear for all things Twitter related, but he’s a public persona and sometimes, he has to do some public relations.

Gillian, you said you would be next to me when you died, too. Well, you were right. But this isn’t death, it’s a beginning. So much more to come for you. In the meantime, I hope your fans sprinkle chocolate on your star the occasional Hollywood midnight and some kind soul builds a Gilly ramp from your star to mine. We will always be joined as partners, friends, and neighbors. Congratulations Gillian. Love, David

David’s message for Gillian’s walk of fame ceremony (via becksndot5)

Do we know where David is at the moment ? He seems strangely off since the end of the shooting … He didn’t tweet for the wrap nor for thanking Gillian nor for the new year but only tweets for official promo (xf or his album). Do you think he’s in vacation ?

David seems strangely off since they started filming to be honest. I have no idea where he is. He was in LA earlier this week, I assume he’s still there except if he’s Monday very important commitment requires him to be somewhere else.

David being there along with Gillian’s bf would have been a good way for them to show that Gillovny isn’t real and it’s all fine and the air is clear everywhere. Like you said, David not going is very sad news but maybe it actually tells us being “just friends” is not easy for him. Maybe it’s an actual sign that Gillovny really isn’t dead and we didn’t imagine everything that happened in 2016 or before that. This is what I want to hope. 💞

I’m very confused to be honest. They look really fine with each other when they are together. In the little E! Interviews and in the BTS Fox released, they look good. Then there’s Gillian tweeting pictures of him and they are good! And there’s the “see you in January”.
So I don’t know, maybe we’re reading too much into it and he really has a commitment, but it sucks. I don’t know what it is that he couldn’t move to attend her ceremony but I wish he had a made a little effort. He keeps postponing his album so I guess his schedule is flexible!
Anyway… I hope to see them together for the promo of XF eventually…
