I’m gonna play devil’s advocate here about David’s song. If it were written at the time of his divorce he would have been married for 17 years to Tea and known Gillian for 20 so it doesn’t fit either of them. If it were written last year he would have known Tea for 20 years and Gillian for 24 so technically it fits Gillian more. BUT I think lyrics are always open to huge speculation as to who they are about and he could just as easily be talking about someone or something completely different.

Well, as long as David doesn’t say anything himself, it’ll just be speculation, as you said. But I don’t think Half his life means literally half his life just like 3000 didn’t literally mean 3000 steps 😉

I say this with all fan love for you, but can I ask why anytime someone says a song is about Gillian you always say no it’s Tea? You can have your opinion of course but I have followed you for a while and it stands out as being kind of strange I guess. Some songs were clearly about Gillian and I think will be now too. But what exactly are you waiting for to say a song is about Gillian?

I’m not gonna say it’s about Gillian because that’s what everyone want to hear.
I’m Gillovny, I’d love this whole album to be about Gillian, but being Gillovny doesn’t have to mean living in a dream.
I think it’s about Tea because during the promo of his first album, he said many times that he wrote many many songs at the time of his divorce. Some were on hell of highwater and some would be on his second album because there were too many of them, so here we are.

How about we just wait to know when he wrote that one so we could figure out what and who could have inspired him at this period of his life?

I just listened to his song and my first thought after line #1 was Gillian! Am I the only one? I mean…half my life by your side? to thick and thin? Rain or shine?

I listened to it but I will need someone to write down the lyrics so I get everything. This is probably not what you wanna hear, but I kinda thought this song was again one of those he wrote at the time of his divorce and it’s about Tea. At this point, it’s either Gillian or Tea ‘cause they’re the only ones with whom it makes sense.
