Well, the tweet applied just as much to you and your people as it did to our side. At least we have 24 years of interaction to go by.  We don’t need manips, we don’t need to make up heart eyes, and most of us can think for ourselves and figure out what’s real and what isn’t, what’s normal and what isn’t.

Gillian’s tweet told everyone she can do whatever the fuck she wants.  Guess what?  That includes being with David and not having to explain it or prove it to anyone, fans included.  That also includes being in a professional relationship with PM.

The small group of us people who believe in Gillovny and still have sense and eyes (as well as life experience) will wait patiently to be proven right.  Because Gillian does whatever the fuck Gillian wants, and she’s making it pretty clear with her interactions, expressions and behaviour exactly what that is.

Thissssssssss she will do whatever the fuck she wants but that doesn’t mean “yes I’m dating Peter!!!!” It means stopping @ her with shit

Let them do, then. What can we do? If anyone took Gillian’s tweet as a confirmation of a dating rumor, it’s weird and wrong. She had tweeted a picture of herself at the BFI a few minutes earlier. If she wanted to come out, she would have chosen one with PM.

This tweet was a call out for all of those sending her hate, not an authorization to ship her with someone.
It wasn’t adresses to one fandom in particular but to all of them, xfiles fandom who are sending her shit because there might be no xfiles and blame PM, Gillovny fandom who is insulting her for maybe not picking the right guy , Gillian’s fans who are pissed at her for her not being a feminist enough, all of them, all of those people tagging her, insulting her, dragging her friends into the midst. That’s what was her tweet. But in my opinion, it’s not because she tweeted that, that it suddenly became okay to tag her and PM saying they’re cute and they should get married.
There’s probable some balance to find.

I honestly do not know what the folks who bombarded GA’s and PM’s twitter accounts hoped to achieve. I for one am not taken aback or surprised by her most recent tweet.

I’m a little surprised, because I really don’t think it was the right thing to do, PR wise. Well… it wasn’t because it didn’t stop and it’s even worse. But I think it was most a human reaction from someone who was hurt and fed up than a controlled celebrity reaction.

People is now writing now on tumblr about Ga; double standards / « Follow your dreams, not your boyfriends’ / Keep ignoring us, keep not saying shit about what the fuck you’re doing. Let’s forget att without us you would not be there. – It’s a mess. People should of course not attack her and her choices. But she lives in public because of her job as she has chosen. I can not help thinking that people are right .. Am I a bad person? because I I think they are right??

I don’t think you’re a bad person and I have an inbox full of people who are angry and confused.

I don’t think many people know, or are aware, that contracts almost always include clauses that state certain aspects or entire things, for that matter, can’t be commented on in public and can’t be discussed.  In order to override that, there would need to be a release clause granted.  The only people who can issue one is the person holding the contract.  If they refuse, there’s nothing that you can do.  You’re bound to it.  

So, because I believe this is nothing more than a professional arrangement (and the more we see of Gillian and PM the more that becomes apparent), and I know this answer will get me an inbox full of hate, I’m not going to change my stance from what I know, without any doubt, to be true.  This is how contracts work and this is how professional arrangements are made.  Now before I’m misunderstood, I’m not saying this is a showmance.  Not at all.  There’s nothing romance or show about it.  This is something else entirely and so many things show that, prove that and continue to reinforce it.

So while fans are understandably upset that Gillian isn’t making a statement, the reality is, she may be unable to (either at all or for the time being) and she’s also stubborn.  We know that.  Yes, this is a mess and yes, there should be some sort of damage control started to salvage what’s salvageable.  I still think that. But if there’s no release (or her PR isn’t seeking one), then they’re going to have to go another route.

Right now, there are going to be two ways to get around this: interviews for her book will be coming up and it’ll be the perfect time for her to say she’s single or debunk the PM rumour in some other way (because she’s commented on things months after the fact previously and she does it well, when fans are least expecting it), OR once season 11 happens, and I fully believe it will, she and David will show with their interaction that there is no other man.  

But for some people, they’ll always see only what they want to see.  So even when we had Gillian and David being openly close to one another, and even when denying relationships is a fact of celebrity life, there seemed to be little thought or consideration given to these things.

So no, you aren’t a bad fan for feeling what you feel.  But at least you’re thinking about it and talking about it.  You’re trying to understand it.  I fully respect anyone who is trying to do that even if they’re confused and feeling hurt.  

And that’s far more than can be said for the portion of the fandom that’s busy posturing, but without any knowledge, and policing others.

What was it like working with Gillian Anderson, who plays your wife in the film?

She’s so in demand, but she’s tremendously focused with a great sense of humour. And like with all actors trying to play someone who existed, you’re trying to get the right tone in spirit. And I think, having talked with the family, both Edwina’s daughter and grandson, and having read up on the Mountbattens and seen footage from that era, I think Gillian completely immersed herself in the role.

We associate her so closely with the US series The X-Files, but she’s British. Do you still do a double take when she speaks in an English accent?

[Laughs]. I sort of do and I don’t. I think every since I saw her in Bleak House, when you suddenly realize ‘my god, she is a Brit’.

Don’t forget the Mountbatten era was again a different sort of English accent – incredibly cut glass and Gillian nailed it fantastically. It can sound a bit peculiar to us these days. Think of the Queen x10.
