But voice actors many times (often from what I recall reading) record together as a group. I wonder if Gillian and David did their parts together? //// And this recording was probably that pic (can you repost it?) of David recording in that NY studio with the XF tag and none of us knew what it was for. Remember? And he had that grin on his face and relaxed look he has around Gillian and we were saying that because she disappeared she was probably with him and that’s why he looked so glow-ey?

I remember that picture, I can’t find it right now, but I don’t remember if Gillian was in NY or not. Maybe.
But really, professionally speaking, I’d be very surprised if they recorded together at the same time. Usually, actors record their part separately because it makes it easier to mix all the voices together in post-production.
I guess once it’s released (hopefully before), it won’t be hard to find out where they recorded. The studio will likely be credited.

Is it true that David delays his new album because he is removing all songs which were for Gillian? Like Someone Else’s Girl and others don’t know them yet? Maybe he’s pulling them off so he won’t be reminded of Gillian and so his album will not have her ghost in it. Do you think he did that? There are people saying this who were Gillovny but are Gorganderson now and I’m so panicked. Maybe that’s the delay. Do you think that’s why? :(

Absolutely not. If David was sad to the point of removing songs from his album, don’t you think it would show on his face and in his behavior? David looks everything but sad, lately.
Also, I’m not even sure Someone else’s girl is about Gillian and the other new songs he played during his last tour didn’t seem to be about anyone in particular.
I don’t know why his album is delayed, it could be for many reasons, but I think it’s mostly because David doesn’t know how long it takes to make an album. He said so during an interview last year, he announced a date and said he actually had no idea how long it would take. It was he who said it would be released this spring, but last year, he said it would come out last fall.
So I just think we can’t trust him on that. That’s all.

So allow me to take a trip down memory lane. Remember when Gillian said that David showed her the msr after dark art? Is it normal for platonic costars to have conversations such as this? I have had ask answered before but am still astonished and fascinated by the interpersonal dynamics at play here and it is fun to continue to speculate on this conversation. Thoughts?

Oh! We can speculate as much as you want! And no, it’s not normal. No one else would have publicly talked about it. No one else, but Gillian of course.
I just always wonder how did this conversation happen, and in my mind, it went like this:

“Hey, Gillian, look what I found on The Google!”

“What the… Oh my! Okay, I’m sorry, David.”

“Sorry? What are you sorry for?”

“Mulder’s bigger than you.”

“Ha. Ha. Ha. Very. Funny. But look, I mean… how did they know?

“Know what?”

“Your climax face? You look just like that!”

“Fuck off, David! And it’s not us. It’s Mulder and Scully!”

“Yeah, whatever… Oh look! All those veins on my man-meat!”

Sunday headcanon: they fly all the time, but never hesitate to call each other being the plane leaves the ground. They also call as soon as they can once the plane lands. It’s just tradition. « Be safe, I love you, » etc. But once, he doesn’t. That’s because he doesn’t want her to know he’s flying to her this time. She wants to be mad about it when they meet up, but she kisses him senseless instead.

It’s Monday, but still… accepted.

I personally don’t believe Gillian’s toxic relationship quote was for David but I can’t blame those who do. There are a lot of people who became part of the fandom during Kimmel & Paley but there are those who were here during ’98 and the dark times so how can I blame them for believing what they believe when in 2005 Gillian herself compared her working time with D as an abusive marriage? Things have changed since then but the first impression is hard to beat and memory is very powerful.

She said “forced” marriage, not “abusive” if I remember correctly. And I can understand too those who think their relationship was toxic, because it probably was somehow, at some point, even if I think the word “toxic” isn’t the most appropriate to describe what happened between them. What I don’t understand is those who think their relationship is toxic, after everything they said about and to each other in the recent few years. 

I don’t understand either those who think he’s the one she’s talking about in the press and during interviews and in her book. It’s just intellectual laziness to think this way, in my opinion. As if Gillian doesn’t have relationships with people we don’t know, as if everything negative in her life has to be about David, as if she would do that to him, dragging him and their relationship for the purpose of the promotion of her book. 

They’ve both moved on, they forgave each other and they love each other now, but it seems like some of their fans are hopelessly stuck in the past forever and it’s sad for them. 

But you know what, if people don’t stop with this nonsense, it’ll end up in the press sooner or later, with a headline such as “Gillian Anderson opens up about her toxic relationship with co-star David Duchovny”. That’s something the DailyMail would be thrilled to publish. So let’s just be better than that and realize that whatever happened between them in the 90s, it’s over now. Let’s realize that never Gillian would publicly talk about David with those words today. Let’s be smarter and understand that not a single publicist on Earth would have allowed that anyway.
