Mulder And Scully, Couples Goals Forever- David Duchovny Tweets to Gillian Anderson

There are few television partnerships more iconic than Special Agents Mulder and Scully from FOX’s The X Files. While yes, the actors behind the characters have been coworkers for going on 26 years, their real life friendship has always been goals. David Duchovny reminded us of this fact with his lovely message to Gillian Anderson today.

Wait. So a couple of hours later everyone is sure there’s resentment, sadness, anger and they’ve broken up? I thought you said they’re fucking. You changed your mind already? And how did people get so negative in just a small time? I’m so confused. It was good. We knew PM would be there. As usual Gillian didn’t acknowledge him. So what is going on? I’m so confused.

But I believe there’s definitely something going on between them that they want or have to hide and whatever it is, either it’s resentment or just pure love, I think it’s good. It’s still feelings, it’s deep and it’s meaningful, whatever it is. To me, Gillovny is still alive and always will be. I have faith we’ll see the bottom of it sooner or later and I have faith we’ll get a happy ending eventually. So I don’t know if they fuckin, but I’m 200% sure they fucked. That’s something. I’m also 200% sure it was more than fuckin, and if it’s not happening anymore, it’ll happen again. I don’t know what the popular opinion is on Gillovny today, but for me, today was a good Gillovny day.

I think there’s resentment between David and Gillian. I don’t know what went on between them but it’s sad.

Resentment is still better than ignorance. If there’s resentment, it means there’s feelings and that things are not over. They’ve overcome resentment once, so if it happens again, they’ll find their way back to each other. Because they are life partners.

I ve read that she used the word platonic because PM was there and he would not feel uncomfortable.

That’s a possibility, but maybe it’s just me, but if my partner would define his or her long time friend as platonic, I would get very very suspicious…
It could also just be a joke to Chris Carter and a reference to Mulder and Scully. All in all, it’s very funny that she used this word.

Gillian’s expression during the reading of David’s message reminded me of her reaction to David complimenting and thanking her for her work (« … for ME! ») during Paley: Deeply moved yet trying not to betray a single emotion, all the while failing miserably. Still don’t believe they were ever a couple though ;-) Other than that, I really enjoy your positivity in these dire tumblr times, even if I don’t agree with your assessment of the D/G situation :-)

Oh there was definitely something like the “for me” Paley bit. It’s okay if you don’t believe they were a couple. Today sealed it one more time for me, though. I hope one day we finally get the truth and that it puts everyone on the same page!

It does bother me… How she barely smiled during David’s speech… Her face was stern at times… I mean look at her when the guy starts by saying that David couldn’t be there. It almost looked like she was pissed. Whatever it is it raises even more questions as to what’s going on between them. And now I’m just lost. It could mean anything and everything.

I think it means everything more than nothing. But what is that everything, we might never know. There’s definitely something going on between them. Good or bad, I don’t know, but even if it’s bad, it’s still something, you know? I take that as a good sign, no matter what it is.

The DD note and her reaction reads to me like two people who still very much love each other, but had to break up due to some uncontrollable circumstance or incompatibility. There was so much sadness there, IMO.

I’m mixed on what it was, but there was definitely something there. Something they’re hiding, for sure.

Lol! It’s more the face she didn’t make that is an issue. Issue isn’t the right word, though. Let’s say that it’s telling. Trying so hard to make no face at all and not letting out one feeling about it just show that you do have feelings. It’s the same when you call someone your platonic friend. It means he’s not your platonic friend. Reversed psychology, you know?
