David performed Because The Night by Patti Smith?! WOW Do you know the story of this song? Basically she wrote it when she was waiting for her boyfriend (later to be husband) to call her. She’s got the tape from Bruce Springsteen and just made it into another love song when he couldn’t, because he wasn’t in love at that time like she was. It’s such a beautiful song, I am a fan of Patti and I’m happy to hear David’s version.

I hope he puts it on his album!

I was lucky enough to be at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston on Wednesday with my best friend and we had VIP passes so we were able to watch the sound check, do a Q&A and get group photos with David Duchovny. I know a lot of people have posted this, but what’s one more? He was kind, funny, thoughtful and honest in his responses to the questions asked of him. I have adored this man for 23 years (X-Files started when I was only 13 years old and I was hooked after the Pilot) so I had high expectations and he exceeded them. He is a gentle soul and seemed honestly humbled by people’s adoration of him. I hugged him and thanked him for all of his work.

His energy on stage was contagious and the crowd loved it. I was right on the floor in front of the stage so I was able to see him up close and person the whole concert. Let me say this, he gives it his all, he sings with everything he has and took time to single out each band member to be sure that they were recognized for their talents as well. He came out on the floor twice and the Boston crowd was very gracious and didn’t try to mob him.

He is a rock star and the best part is, he would never say that.

I hope everyone who loves this man gets an opportunity to meet him and see the gentle soul that resides underneath his handsome exterior.
