Gillovny timeline 2018 (part ½)

I usually post the timeline every six months, so I’m a little late this year, but here it is, right before the first Gillovny Con of the year!

As usual, feel free to tell me if I forgot something!

Here’s the full timeline since 2016

#BTS

January 3rd: 

– For The X-Files season 11 premiere on Fox, Gillian posted this picture of David, Chris and herself. “Gangs all here! Tonight at 8/7c.”

– And this picture of David and Mitch. “Ooh don’t they look spiffy?”

Walk of Fame

January 8th:

– David couldn’t be at Gillian’s ceremony but he left her a sweet message. “Gillian, you said you would be next to me when you died, too. Well, you were right. But this isn’t death, it’s a beginning. So much more to come for you. In the meantime, I hope your fans sprinkle chocolate on your star the occasional Hollywood midnight and some kind soul builds a Gilly ramp from your star to mine. We will always be joined as partners, friends, and neighbors. Congratulations Gillian. Love, David” (watch the full ceremony)

– A guy made both Gillian and David sign a picture of them at their respective ceremonies. Here’s what happened.

January 10th: Gillian keeps going on with the red speedo. “Because I wasn’t in this scene and because this isn’t disappointing, I’m putting this out there.” 

January 12th:

– David makes up tells a new story about how they met for the first time: “Celebrating 25 years, makes me look back when I first met Gillian. It was during the casting, I was looking for some matches and she took them out and approached me, just like that, without saying a word.” (read the interview)

– David and Gillian did a panel for the TCA and have been asked about their chemistry. Gillian said: “And I feel like just this year, I’ve developed a whole new appreciation for the uniqueness of what people always ask me about and referred to, “What about your chemistry,” and, you know, “You got chemistry,” you know? But it was it’s special. And it’s a chemistry that often there are elements of it that show up when we’re, you know, side by side doing interviews, but most of it shows up” (read the full panel report)

January 14th: Gillian changed her Ebay icon to this picture.

January 17th: Gillian tweeted this video of a bear on the set, a call back to this story. 

January 24th:

– Gillian tweeted this little video of David. “2,945,002…2,945,003..”

– And this picture. “Scully drove. Her feet reached the pedals.”

January 31st: Gillian posted this picture. “Just when you think life’s a peach….” and later, this set of pictures of she and David. “A series.”

February 2nd: On a podcast, David is asked about his relationship with Gillian: “there’s a personal history that’s strong, there’s a personal history kind of encompasses this life changing and career making enterprise that we did together. We have that bond of like having started when we were just kind of individual people and then becoming this huge thing and only the other one knows what that’s like. And then we have all this acting that we’ve done together so I don’t think we even try to play any kind of anything.“ (listen to the full podcast)

February 7th: Gillian posted this picture. “Killing time between takes.”

February 9th: Gillian retweeted David’s release of his new album.

February 19th: During an interview in Australia, David is asked about his friendship with Gillian: 

Interviewer: “But you’re friends. You’re mates. You’re back doing it?”

DD: I can see that you are concerned.

Interviewer: I am concerned. This is a big deal to me. I need to know.

DD: We are friends. We are friends. (watch the interview).

February 20th: Gillian posted this manip of Virtue & Moir with their faces. “Did we win?”

February 28th:

April 8th:

– Gillian was in Belgium for the Facts Convention. During the panel, she said that her favorite part of the revival was to work with David again. (source)

– She also said about David: “David and I become really good friends over the years. We become closer over the years. At the end of the day, we realized that we were probably the only two people who were ever going to have the experience that we had together. So, there was something special in all of that to celebrate and to respect and to honor. It helped us to slow down and lean in to the friendship.“ (watch the full panel)

April 28th: David gave a “confirm or deny” interview to The New-York Times: 

Interviewer: You’ve never read Gillian Anderson’s sci-fi novels?

DD: Deny.

Interviewer: You’ve never socialized with Gillian.

DD: We’ve gone out to dinner. You know, between five and 10 times.

May 1st: Gillian tweeted for David’s book Miss Subways’ release. “Yup he’s done it again!“

May 17th: David is on a radio show when this singer has a particular song for him. “Stick it in Gillian.”

May 21st:

– Gillian posted this picture. “Warm and dry and resigned.”

June 10th: Gillian posted a picture in her instagram story with a very famillar message… “Be here now.” (source)

July 19th:

– A few clips from The X-Files season 11 DVD start to leak, starting with the now famous “goodbye Mister Duchovny”, (full video)

Birthdays wishes

August 7th:

– Gillian wishes David a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday Mr. Duchovny!”

– David responded. “The gift that keeps giving…”

August 9th:

– David wishes her back. “Right back at ya Ms. Anderson…Happy Birthday!“

It’s been a year since they agreed on this. The decision was made quickly, he feels like he didn’t even have his word to say. They expressed their desire to come out, they explained their worries, some guy in a five fingers black suit found a solution in three steps. “Easy,” he said. Gillian said “yes,” his lawyer signed a paper, her lawyer signed it too, they shook hands and it was done. “Easy,” he repeated to himself.

It was “easy,” at least in the beginning. They found the perfect guy, British but not really, divorced but not really, the type of guy she could be attracted to. But not really. He felt odd when he had to let her go with him the first time, but he got used to it. It was the first step, his own first step, actually. He had to learn to share. Ceremony after ceremony, he had to watch the love of his life show herself with another man.

Jealous would be an understatement to define him. He’s possessive, territorial even. But her sweet words and soft touches never failed to reassure him. He was the one and the only one for her. He convinced himself that he could live like that a little more. It was for the best. Even after a certain day of June, when she called him in tears to apologize for what she called “an unfortunate accident”, he still thought it was the right thing to do. It was his turn to reassure her, to tell her it was okay and to renew his trust in her.

But if he was being honest with himself, he knew it wasn’t okay. Something has changed between them, and he feared it was forever. He made it to a new step. He had to learn to live without watching, reading, listening, caring. He had to rely on trust and only on trust, even though when he closed his eyes at night, this picture haunted his dreams turning them into terrible nightmares. Even today, when he finds himself on his knees in a moment of pure intimacy, with his hands on her hips, he has to take a deep breath and chase the ghost of Italy away before he strips her down. She knows, he can see it. He can tell that her lips say “I love you,” but her eyes say “I’m sorry.” They usually take twenty-five years to resolve their issues and he isn’t sure they have twenty-five more years to resolve this one. It was supposed to make them happier, to allow them to live their life normally, as a couple and as individuals too. But it’s consuming them slowly from the inside. Day after day, the sparkle in her eyes faded. Her smile became sad. Her demeanor more severe. She was happy to work with him, he could tell. But every time she had a new appearance scheduled with “him”, he could feel her apprehension and reluctancy weeks before the D-day.

He tried to negotiate with the guy in a fancy suit. Maybe what she did was enough already. Maybe it could stop now. They could skip the second step and launch the final one. The happy one. But he “knew his job”, and he had to “trust him.” So David threw himself in the second step. He picked a girl. Young but not really, smart but not really, sweet but not really. The kind of girl everyone expected him to be with, according to fancy-suit.
Oddly, it made Gillian laugh to see whom they had chosen for him. She seemed to have found a second breath. Maybe it’s because they shared the attention now. “Where’s your girlfriend?” she used to tease him. She bought him Viagra once, and they laughed heartedly for an hour.  

But soon, it’ll be his turn to play his part more seriously. It’ll be her turn to rely on trust. To live without watching, reading, listening. Soon, they won’t live in their own bubble anymore. There won’t be no apartment where they can hold each other at night, no trailer where they can have a few minutes break just the two of them, no private places where they can talk through all of this. He hopes with all his heart they can make it to the final step but he’s afraid of what will be left of them and how long it’ll take to rebuild the new shape of their relationship.
“It’s gonna be easy,” he lies in her ear as she falls asleep in his arms.

Gillovny timeline 2017 part 1

I couldn’t decently make the kind of timeline I made last year, with sightings and rumors, but even if we felt like Gillovny wasn’t very active this semester, there’s still quite a few things that shows the unconditional love between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson…

Gillovny timeline 2016 part 1 –  part 2 

January 10th: David is at the New Orleans Wizard World with Mitch Pileggi.

– It took him 8 minutes to talk about Gillian when no one asked him to (video) : Question: “Mitch what’s the favorite scene that you did with David and David what’s the favorite scene you did with Mitch?” David: “That would have been a great question if it was: Mitch what’s your favorite scene to do with David, David what’s your favorite scene to do with Gillian. That would have made me laugh. I thought it was coming. It didn’t come.”

– He talked about Gillian being a horrible a driver and told the now famous neck-brace prank (video): David: “Gillian’s a terrible driver. She had car accidents with nothing. Like the world was empty. There was nothing on the street. I was so relaxed. And she hit something. Hard. Backing up into it. So we had a little whiplash. She hit the nothing that was there. Hard.” Mitch: “Gillian is a horrible driver.” David: “But she thinks, she is good. That’s the hard part. So please don’t tell her.”

– Gillian answered a week later with a tweet (source) : “Excellent driver on both land and sea.”

January 22nd: David was obviously scrolling though Gillian’s tag on Twitter and liked this tweet. 

February 8th: David was on a podcast. The interviewer said “Give your girl, Gillian a call! Get her on that.” He answered “Okay.”

February 9th: During a podcast, David was asked about Gillian in the Fall and he said she was “very very very good. Very great” (podcast – starts at 26:50 min)

February 13th: During a Facebook Live, the interviewed ask David is they can call “Scully”. He answered “yeah, when we’re not rolling!” (source)

February 14th: 

– Variety shipped them for Valentine’s Day. (source) 

– Tv Guide shipped them too. (source)

– During an interview for his music tour, David remembered Gillian being on stage with him at The Cutting Room. (source) : That was my first performance in New York. That was really the album release performance. I remember being nervous at that, and I think we had just said we were going to do more X Files, and we were going to do the Television Critics Association Awards. Gillian was in town to do that the next day. I just thought it would be fun if she came up and sang a song. She didn’t know any of my songs, but we were going to do a cover of “Helpless” by Neil Young. I got her on the phone and she rehearsed over the phone with the band to get the key she could sing it at. That was that.

April 10th: After the official announcement of The X-Files season 11, Gillian tweeted (source): “You ready for more of this @davidduchovny?  #TheXFiles.” David answered (source): “Oh yes, Been ready since ‘93″

April 22nd: Gillian follows David on Instagram. 

May 11th: I cannot not mention Orlando Jones and this fuckery: (source) “It’s going to happen. They don’t understand what’s going on. David just finished touring, he and Tea are no longer together — which is horrible, I love Tea. They have beautiful kids. But Gillian’s beautiful, she’s sort of amazing — I don’t really understand what the problem is. Here’s the thing, I get that they want to take a slow roll, they want to walk in the sand for a little while, they don’t want to commit too soon. But in 20 years they’re going to be on Golden Pond together if I have to break both their fucking legs and put them there.”

May 15th: The Upfronts & The Webby Awards

– David and Gillian appeared at The Fox Upfronts with matching injuries. Only two pictures were released (1st pic – 2nd pic), and a few interviews ( David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Explain Their Matching Injuries Talk XFiles  –  David Duchovny Gillian Anderson on X Files Revival)

– Gillian was awarded for her role in The Fall, and David surprised her (or not), with a funny and memorable speech to give her the award. (video). They left the stage together and shared a cute moment (video)

May 16th: Gillian did a panel conversation for Buzfeed. She said “after seeing the playback from last night’s Webby Awards, David and I walking together, me in crutches and him in sling: That makes me think that may be an old idea. Maybe we should just fucking retire.”

May 17th: Gillian commented on the Webby Awards in an interview (source): “It was hilarious. The whole thing was hilarious,” said Anderson of Duchovny’s presentation. “The fact that we’re both crippled right now is so f—ing funny. And we’re about to start five and a half months of filming, so we’re going to have to heal really quickly. It was just hilarious between that clip and his speech and us both being invalids, it made my year so far.”

May 18th: Gillian thanked David for The Webby Awards on Twitter (source): I would like to thank… @davidduchovny. Thanks @TheWebbyAwards!

June 1st: David finally started to follow Gillian on Instagram.

June 12th: David was asked how his relationship with Gillian has changed. He said: “It is deeper because of all those years that have passed. The respect and trust we feel towards each other are obvious! I think we are also both better actors today!” (source)
