As someone who has been raped I must say that Straightheads is the only movie I have seen who did a great attempt in writing abuse in an honest way. For the first time you didn’t get too see that standard post rape shower scene where the victim almost scrubs off their skin. Instead you got to see what it’s like more in detail emotionally and Gillian played it so well almost as if she knew what it’s like or had spoken to rape victims. I will always be so thankful she agreed to tell this story.

Thank you for sharing, anon. I think the reason why I said I don’t know if I like it or not, it’s actually because it feels realistic and goes beyond the usual clichés so it’s disturbing. But Gillian’s acting is really good and it’s probably one of her toughest and strongest role.

So I was looking thru GA’s movies and I found one I have never heard of Closure, so I looked it up and they also called it Straightheads.. very mixed reviews. Have you seen it? I don’t buy movies she is only in for one scene… Just curious if this is one I need to get.

Yes, Straightheads is the US title and Closure the UK one (or vice versa I can’t remember) and I’ve seen it. Twice. She has a leading role, and you might wanna see it. Everyone has a different opinion on this movie. Let’s say it’s disturbing. I still haven’t figured out if I like it or not, but you surely won’t be bored watching in, Gillian is very good, her role is heavy and tough and she’s breathtaking in it. Come back and tell me what you thought about it when you’ve seen it, I’m always curious to know what people think about this movie.
