I LOVE that podcast with David! I think he truly loves those opportunities to just shoot the shit with REGULAR people. When he does those, he takes the « famous guy » hat off and just becomes David, the kid who grew up on the Lower East Side, played basketball and was a good student. Thanks for sharing it!

Things I LOVE about this podcast. Careful, it’s a long list.

  • You can hear when he answers that he was asleep…adorable
  • The host who talks about how he was late from army duty, ‘cause he was watching The X-files! –> Also, how David is GOING TO TELL THE STORY TO CC, LATER TODAY! HE WILL CALL HIM RIGHT AFTER THE SHOW!
    • They are in daily touch?! Nope. I’m not freaking out. It’s cool. All cool. *screaming inside.*
  • His excitement towards The X-files. The quote. He sounds positive and I really, really, really needed that.
  • “The bricolage internet world.”
  • How he doesn’t really pay attention to all the gifs, memes and such unless it tickles him;

  • How he wanted to be a professor, teach college level, take summer holidays and just write.
  • The fangirling of the podcast hosts over his thesis.
  • How he sees Mulder and Hank as the ‘Truth-Telling Characters’
  • “Mulder is extremely sincere”
  • His next book to read is Rachel Cusks new book – I believe, he means – Transit. Rachel Cusk is a London-based writer, whose novel, Outline, he recommended before.
    • Outline is a novel about women who are getting older and feel invisible. I love how he reads and recommends novels like this and I actually just order Outline two days ago…so yeah. Kudos to him for being so supportive. And it is such a weird coincidence, that I just read that article about Outline, couple of days ago… Anyway, back to business.
  • His reaction when Donald Trump’s book is mentioned and his opinion on him. And whoo, boy he has one!
  • How he is interested in the opinion of the others, he wants to hear what they think, because it is important!
  • How he can easily recall and quote from a scene he shot 8 years ago:
    • “Looks like there is a new Pope”

I imagine this must be how it feels when you have a chance to have a conversation with David Duchovny. He is humble, funny, intelligent, opinionated and interesting.

Thank you Unorthodox podcast!
