I always read your posts and I’m glad we can have such healthy debate in this fandom. I do have to chime in though. If you take a step back from all this and look objectively. Look at how AWKWARD they we’re together on stage early golden globes. It was almost painful to watch. For them to have gotten to the stage where David (surprise or planned – doesn’t matter) showed up for no good reason (i.e. not contractual obligation like the upfronts) and did it with a massive smile is HUGE [1 of 2]

The Webbys is hardly a prestigious event, and whilst I’ll always be so grateful to them for giving us that wonderful few minutes of Gillovny – it’s not like attending was going to give David any notoriety. Even the sceptics amongst us can say it was a friend doing something nice for a friend – no hidden motives. Also I want to say this because I feel it was overlooked in the excitement – congrats Gillian best actress. She was AMAZING as Stella. [2 of 2]

I completely agree with you, anon! We’re probably over analyzing this event. I really wanted to understand why some people thought something was off, but I just don’t see it, so…
Anyway, it was an amazing Gillovny moment, and I agree that everyone, or at least a huge part of the fandom no matter who they ship, can agree on that.

The only thing that seemed off to me, aside from the awkwardness that came from two crutches and a sling added to the mix, was how David was when being interviewed at the upfronts. He seemed very abrupt at times and completely unfocused, kept glancing away. I now wonder though if it was because he knew time was short for him to get to the webbys in time to present the award? The upfronts were strange. The webbys were amazing.

Compared to the premiere red carpet last year, their interviews at the Upfronts weren’t that good, but for both of them. You can say when they don’t want to be there and are not into what they’re doing, and I think it was the case at the Upfronts. But their mood was clearly different at the Webbys!

I do really appreciate that you will post important anon asks, even if they bring up uncomfortable topics for you or you may disagree w/ them. I have no where to go w/ these thoughts except for here, so it’s nice that I can share them here. It’s the reason I come to u. It’s why I check ur blog everyday. u are awesome. So, I adore them together & greatly enjoy their interactions & chemistry. But I’ve been confused by their most recent interactions. It appears SOMETHING odd is going on bw them.

Okay but you know what I think? I think some of you already had in mind that Gillian is dating someone else, or this weird thought that they’ve broken up and I think you are projecting what you think is the truth. You were expecting to see them being off, or you wanted to see them being off for whatever reasons, so that’s what you see and you’re not capable anymore to watch this event with fresh eyes and for what it is: a beautiful moment of cuteness and fun between two people who love each other (no matter what definition you put being the word “love”.)
I know some of you are very young, but let me tell you that if David and Gillian have broken up, at their age and with their history, what we saw last week would have been totally different. We wouldn’t be debating on either they were off or not. We would know.
If you’re expecting them to gush about each other on social media, lower your expectations. Again, they’re not 16, they’re not going to do that, and it doesn’t mean anything except that they’re not comfortable sharing more than what they share already.
If you think they weren’t touchy enough, remember they were invalid. Both of them.
If you think he didn’t look at her enough, he was reading a text that he clearly didn’t learn before. Without his glasses.
Also, rewatch that damn thing! I don’t know what else to say. I mean, are you sure you’re watching the right ceremony? Maybe you’re mistaking with some old Golden Globes?

How can someone watch the webby and do not see the love&connection between them!I only watched it twice (just kidding)and I really believe D would have really loved to say something other than friend-and the way he eventually does it is really touching. she is only thanking D and cannot look away from him. But really,the way D was confident in the way he took her crutches-he did that before and not just once. I 💚 your blog and am really happy that we’re back to some fun!

Thank you anon! I’m lacking of arguments on this debate. I feel like those anons aren’t meant to troll and really believe what they say, and I really don’t understand the reason why they feel what they feel. It’s just weird. But yes! The fun is back, David and Gillian are going to spend 6 months of togetherness, and nothing will be odd of off between them for sure! ❤

Gillian was all giddy, smiley and cheergul at Webby’s. She seemed to be moved just by David’s presence. She couldn’t stop laughing and he was at his goofy self, which any fan of him knows it’s his selfdefense way of not showing his emotions. But of course people see something off. Now, at Bafta GA was really off durinh that joke but « oh she is looking at him with heart eyes ». Double standards full loaded these days, right? 🤔

It seems like some people genuinely think they were off and I really don’t see what they see, so I’m a little bewildered. But I agree with you! If you want to see Gillian being off, watch that reaction at the BAFTA. And for ships equality, also watch the Chicago panel. This one was off and odd. I think it was due to WBD presence, for sure because everything else went fine during the con, but this panel was off. The Webby Awards were just fine!

They did seem a little off to me. Very off actually. Something just seems peculiar. I’m really glad uv opened it up to discussion bc I think we’re a fairly intelligent fandom & we might be able to make sense of it together if we are all allowed to feel comfortable discussing our opinions. That’s why respect for anons is key, even if u don’t agree with someone. As for me, I get the sense that SOMETHING odd is going on. The avoidance at the upfronts makes no rational sense for promotion (1)

(2) the chemistry bw dd & ga is something anyone in their right mind would want to use & capitalize on as much as humanely possible. The only thing that makes sense to me is that contractually they may have forbidden it. I do wonder if it has something to do with the crown or pm specifically. The man is obviously in her life in some capacity, he showed up to the baftas WITH her. So perhaps this avoidance was done out of respect for that, or out of obligation. It might even be at his insistence.

(3) & in the spirit of open discussion, I have to say it strikes me as odd that dd has pretended the Webby’s didn’t even happen. Not a word of congrats to his friend. Not a pic, link, shout out, or even a word. Yes, It’s only social media, but it is telling. Especially when on the same day GA THANKED him on twitter he made a point to like another female costars tweet, but he ignored GA’s. He couldn’t even LIKE her tweet, but he liked Claire’s? That does mean something to me. I don’t know what

(4) I also appreciate that but willing to open this up to discussion despite the fact that u may not see what others see. I love them together very much, but I have to be honest with myself and my rational mind when I see something that is clearly off or different or telling. I’m glad I can talk about it with others & see what others think.

No problem with talking about it, anon. I’m always amazed and also kind of frustrated, when I genuinely thought everybody was agreeing on something, but I was wrong, and it’s actually a real debate. I don’t think I can convince you, and you’re really not going to convince me, though. This ceremony made Gillian’s year., so what else is there to say? With all due respect, what you’re saying about a contract stopping them from doing joined promotion makes absolutely no sense. 

Such a contract isn’t a joke, if you make it, you respect it. If there was such a contract between them, the two pictures that we’ve seen of them at The Upfronts wouldn’t have existed. And what would be the point on signing a contract like this to show up together an hour later at an awards ceremony? 

About David not answering Gillian’s tweet, when did he even answer her? He never does. Or she has to force him, like we assume she did about the Red Speedo last May when they were together. When he likes a tweet only mentioning Gillian’s name, people lose it on Twitter. He choose not to provoke that kind of reaction, I think we should respect that. 

And again, really, nothing was off at all! They were two invalid idiots on a stage, cute, giddy, and hot a hell as usual. 

Do you think dd and ga’s lack of… um… togetherness at the upfronts has anything to do with pm? I don’t have an opinion on it either way. Just asking an honest question. I’m wondering what everyone thinks. Can we open it up to discussion? It was pretty bizarre, we can all agree to that. The only time we saw them together that day at all was onstage at the Webby’s. Seems weird to me. I honestly don’t see how it could’ve benefited fox at all. I think it could be something else. Don’t know what

We can always open discussion, anon! If not the Webbys, I would have find it weird that they didn’t appear more together, didn’t do the photocall together, and didn’t give any interview together. It is weird. But then, they went to Webbys, and the magic operated. There’s no doubt David and Gillian are fine with each other, that nothing has changed between them since the last time we saw them together. I really do think it happened like that not because it was their request, but because Fox had planned it this way. 

Even if you assume she’s dating someone else, which I don’t but anyway, what would be the point of asking your network to make separate appearances with your costar for one business event, and then show up together being all giddy and cute at a totally non-business related (at least for David) event, and finally spend 6 months on the other side of the world 24/7 with this other man? It makes no sense. 

So if it isn’t their choice, if it isn’t due to their schedule, it has to come from their publicist or from Fox. It has to be a communication strategy. A weird one, but still…

What is the issue about them arriving/leaving together their events? They seem to be very protective about their relationship, whatever it is, so it’s normal they going by their own imo. If they always arrive/leave together we would not be at this hell of doubt… But they always keep us guessing. 😄

Haha, there’s no issue about them arriving together or leaving together or not. I think we all just want to know if David did surprise Gillian or if him giving her this award was planned and she knew it would be him. I’m mixed on this subject, and I’d really love to know! I hope one of them tell us one day!
