I understand what you mean. I spent a lot of time thinking about the same passage in the short story and it bugged me too. But I think we overthink that passage, I think it is just an unfortunate coincidence.

I liked the short story and think GA has shared it because of the author, a friend and because she thinks it has an important message. I actually do not think she draws parallels to her own situation tho. Somehow, I do not think she perceive the Portofino mess in the same way as we. I think she knows the pictures are there, but do not think she perceive them as bad as we do. There is so much we do not know about all that mess, so it’s hard for us to know what has actually happened. Hence also what PM and GA has thought / not thought and PM´s motives behind his action. PM is, in my opinion, awkward, lumpy and unable to act socially, which I think every conduct has publicly testified, also the Portofino mess. In my opinion, the public display should not have appeared, no matter the reason. I found it degrading and humiliating and do not understand how any woman would accept that treatment, and especially in a public space. However, we still don´t know what actually happened and images are still only freezing of fractions of seconds. We lack what happened before and after -and not least the circumstances.  So that’s hard and I’m sadly still totally lost about GA’s actions and behaviour, but I do not think there are parallels to the short story. Honestly I do not think GA has thought so much about it, other than she liked the message and that a friend had written it…but you’re right it’s a bit unfortunate
