The X-Files is back for its 11th series – here’s everything you need to know

sunshinetoday:

What will Season 11 be about?

Fox are typically keeping their cards close to the chest as to what will happen in Season 11, but events will take place two years after season 10.

In the series finale, Mulder’s life was left hanging in the balance as he succumbed to a deadly virus, but in the final moments, a triangle-shaped UFO shone a bright light over him, Scully and Miller.

The episode ended with Scully looking at the lights of the spacecraft.

Regarding your spoiler anon; when S10 started up right until the episodes finished airing on TV I stayed away from all of my SM as well as promos because I too wanted to be spoiler free. It wasn’t an easy task but it was so worth it. And I agree with you, JHH Fox were the ultimate spoilers. After reading your analysis I’m guessing they only teased the best bits bc they were the only scenes to keep the audience enticed and tuning in.

That’s probably the safer decision to make. I wish I was that brave, but I’m just too weak for social media, and I’m not sure I could stay away for weeks before it airs. I wouldn’t miss the fun with you guys. So I’ll have endure it once again, and get pissed at Fox for ruining it again. I hope they change their strategy, though. In my opinion, it was stupid, non-fans won’t watch them, hardcore-fans will and then be disappointed and angry. No one is winning in this. I remember they pretended to leak unfinished trailers and even faked a mistake by leaking Babylon on Hulu one day before the airing date on Fox. It sounded desperate, so I hope season 11 is good enough do they don’t have to use that kind of tricks.

As with the majority of this fandom I’m looking forward to S11 coming our way. However, I’m not sure what to do in relation to spoilers. Last time round I stayed clear of them. This time round do I invest my time in photos/bts snippets/interviews etc. Will they spoil the TV experience for me when I watch it? Not being a fan of spoilers generally, I don’t know what to do this time round. Do I watch with an idea thanks to spoilers or do I watch afresh without being spoiled? Help, please! 😬🤷🏻‍♀️

We’re all different in this matter, so I can only tell you about me. I HATE SPOILERS! I really do. I never watch a trailer of any other shows, I slapped one of my colleague once because he spoiled me House of Cards and I still hate him to death for that, but when it comes to the X-Files, and because I’m here, it has to be a little different. I didn’t know what to do with season 10, I barely had a blog during the filming, i was only lurking here, but I figured out I wasn’t bothered at all by all the pictures and videos coming from the set. I did unfollow one blog in particular who kept theorizing about what this or that would mean for the story, and I was kind of bothered by that. I refollowed the blog after that.

Actually, the worst part for me was the actual Fox spoilers. The closer we got from the airing, the worst it became. They started to release, not only trailers, but entire scenes of each episodes, with the best bits, revealing everything, and inevitably making the episode itself a little bit disappointing. I mean, I would have enjoyed MSMTWM ten times more if I hadn’t seen the sex scene and the red speedo scene a week before it aired. What was left to enjoy? Same for Babylon. They showed pretty much the whole mushroom scene, including the dancing one a long time before the episode aired. I mean why? This episode sucked, and it was the only enjoyable part. Why spoiling it?

So to sum it up, pictures and videos from the set are nothing, they won’t spoil you, and your interpretation of them will likely be false. But be careful when we get closer to the airing date. I’m still not sure what I’ll do myself. Last year, I really wanted to avoid spoilers, but seeing those videos on my dash everyday, all those gifs, and people talking about them, there was nothing I could do. I’ll tag all my spoilers, and I wish everyone would, but it’s a wishful thought.

“The fact that we’ve been able to come back to it after so long, or there’s demand for it after so long, or that we’re going to be able to do another ten episodes this year, I’m overjoyed at that aspect of it. I like the fact that we’ve all been able to take a long break and had other venues, other successes, other jobs, so it’s kind of a perfect situation.”
