The X-Files Filming Location – January 23 2018

JHH, I need your expertise! I saw something I didn’t notice at first. I’m almost sure that in the bear video, Gillian is smoking! She’s making the movement with her arm and I even see a little bit of smoke at some point. When she posted the picture back in September, I assumed she was maybe eating something but now I see a small thing between her fingers. It doesn’t exactly look like a cig, though, but then she’s far away. I’m already disappointed but…🧐❓ What do you think? Anyone sees it?

I rewatched the video and zoomed in, and I didn’t see what you see, anon. Sorry. They were in the middle of a scene, I think they were really filming when the bear came out, so if Gillian even still smoke, I don’t think she would have done that at that particular moment. It looks like she points towards to bear with her hand, and then put it on her face as in she’s shocked. But I don’t see any smoke 🙂

Hi JHH. I want a quick opinion. This season which is very shippy doesn’t get great ratings compared to s10. CC said he won’t do XF without Scully but it’s on Disney now and they’ll need new series for their streaming services in 2019. With DD being open for more can the low ratings show to Disney that M&S as a couple are not the main attraction of the show and decide to continue it with younger protagonists and Mulder as their mentor a la Star Wars messing with M&S? Please answer!

To be honest, with these ratings, I’m sure Xfiles is the least of Disney’s concerns. They bought Fox for the Marvel franchises and I’m pretty sure they couldn’t care less about what is happening between Mulder and Scully. It feels like this season will be the last one, so they did it for the fans. Finally!

Chris said he never really thought about doing more Xfiles without Mulder and Scully, and without Gillian, and I’m sure he meant it. I don’t think he would like to keep going with younger characters like Miller and Einstein. That would be a totally new show and it would lose its fanbase of viewers, who are pretty much the only one left. So that would be a bad idea, I think.
Disney could maybe want to rebrand the show and give it a try without Gillian and even maybe without David, but they would have to get rid of Chris like they got rid of George Lucas. Would it be worth it? I don’t think so.

Seeing the lack of promo this year and the early launch date of this season, I feel like Fox and Disney both didn’t expect much of this season. I don’t think it has anything to do with the quality of the episodes, but more with the bad critics and poor quality of the previous one. People lost interest with season 10, which was predictable. Those 10 episodes could be the shippiest, the scariest, the whatever-st, the ratings would still be the same.
“Plus One”’s ratings were a bit higher than “This”, so hopefully, they’ll keep growing up a bit, but I believe it’ll never be enough for Disney or Fox to want to do more anyway.
