Don’t be surprised of Joel McHale’s incendiary X-Files pundit Tad O’Malley rears his ugly head in the second revival. 

“If he shows up,” series creator Chris Carter tells me, “it would be in Episode 10 [aka the finale]. But I’m not sure yet.”

Does something seem off to you about the way S11’s air date was released? Last year there was so much hype and teasing before the announcement but this year zilch. To me something doesn’t feel right. Or could it just be as innocent as FOX knowing they have their audience already?

I only have one theory in mind about that. I think Fox is really confident in XF, they think it’ll work well with or without promo because the brand is strong enough. I believe Disney will buy Fox eventually next year, and for that, Fox needs keep their ratings at their best in the first few months of 2018, or at least to not downgrade them. Disney may have had thrown a ratings clause into the negotiations. The series Empire which is the one with the best ratings on Fox airs on Wednesday and stops right before the Christmas holidays. So I think they needed to replace it with safe bet right after the Christmas break. 

That would explain why it feels rushed, why Wednesday, why we don’t really have new promo pictures, trailers, and why they’re not even going to do an official premiere night. I’m still hoping the promo will happen in January anyway, after they air the first or second episode. That would still make sense as there’ll be 8 episodes to go. 

Where is Gillian? She gets happy and share links about The Crown in a second, but when it comes of her own show, she gets quiet. Unbelievable!

@iva69s just pointed out the news is on her official website since yesterday, but I agree she could have retweeted David or the XF official account. I don’t think it’s her, personally, but I said it a long time ago and I’ll keep saying it: she needs a new PR team! They’re useless and clueless about everything.
Let’s not blame Gillian for that, though. If we’re being honest, she’s the one who keeps giving us all the BTS and the good stuff since they started filming.
