I love MSR, I love the stand-alones (not all of them, but still), the first mythology wasn’t too bad, the second one is a mess and the revival mythology is… well… Mulder’s dying on a bridge under a huge spaceship! If I didn’t know anything about that show and I only watched the revival, I think I would have wondered if it was a joke or a parody. 
The X-Files is the best love story ever on television. If you think it’s about aliens, you’re wrong, Chris Carter.
