The only reason why The Crown is being talk about so much is the disproportionate amount of money Netflix has invested on its promotion. Why would Gillian invest money in a series which represents the opposite of what she stands for? Making money? It’s not a safe bet at all. It’s an incredibly expensive product and Queen Elizabeth II is far away from being an engaging and fascinating subject. One season is ok, two maybe, but I doubt it will have a third season considering its enormous cost.

Why would The Crown be against what Gillian stands for? I don’t think she supports cannibalism, but she played in Hannibal all the same. Netflix has already signed for 6 seasons, it would make sense for her to invest in this particular show, as producer, or to star in it as an actress. She’s totally legit do to it considering her background and career, the movies and series she’d done before. This show is going to be sold in every country after its run on Netflix, it’ll bring a lot more money than what it costs, it’s a huge success for Netflix, it’s normal that it drags new investors, and with all the money they have invested for promotion, I’m sure they won’t stop after the second season.
