Call me stupid but I think GA still lurks tumblr and other social media and the sole reason she has dropped off with her posting is because of the shitstorm that has been going on since October. I see a connection that has nothing to do with who she may or may not be dating – DD, PM or whoever – and everything to do with how some of the fans are behaving. I would imagine she doesn’t want to add more fuel to the fire.

That’s not stupid, but I don’t think she lurks on Tumblr herself. She said she has her spies, and hopefully, they only report her the cool and fun side of what is said, which might be hard to find lately but still. And during time like this, I think they find an appropriate way to explain her what is going on and why, without necessarily having to show her the worst posts.
I’m sure, somehow, she knows what’s happening in the fandom, but does she care? That’s an another story.

I will never believe Gillian or any other celebrity live their life and make choices in order to punish their fandom. I don’t understand the tendency to believe that. Every two months, there’s something bad happening here, with more or less intensity, and every time, we think she stops tweeting because of us, or she stops posting here because of us, or she stops doing cons because of us, or doesn’t want to do more XF because we don’t deserve it. That’s a weird thing to think.
Gillian has 500 000 followers on Twitter. We, here are what? 300? 400 active bloggers? There’s maybe no more than 0,1% of her fandom being vocal about what’s going on in her private life. I don’t think that such a little percentage of people can have such a big impact on her life and the decisions she makes.
We live here, on tumblr, in our little bubble and tend to forget that there are people out there, in Gillian’s fandom, who had never heard or us, who are not interested in knowing what’s happening here, who don’t care about her private life, and I’m sure it’s the major part of her fandom.
We are the die hard fans. But in this business, it’s not us that you have to seduce. We are seduced no matter what she does anyway. So she’s not going to deprive her whole fandom because of a bunch of crazy die hards.
