I’ve seen plenty of people ignore that or say it’s not true and that she was there because it was for PM and she was supporting him and proud of him. That is NOT how I see it. She wasn’t there for him because if that were the case she would have stood on the red carpet with him and had photos with him through the night. That didn’t happen. But she WAS nominated, yes?

No, she wasn’t nominated. She did arrive at the same time of the cast and crew of The Crown, and sat nearby them. Truth is, she doesn’t need to have a reason the attend the Baftas. It’s not the first time she does, she’s a successful actress, and not everyone in the room was nominated. I think she was here for herself, first of all, and probably to support the team of The Crown if they’d win. They didn’t, so we’ll never what would have happened in this case. But I agree with you, if her first goal was to support Peter Morgan, she would have, at least, posed on one picture with him.
