JHH, you’re a fan and this may cloud your judgement, but this is your field. From an objective point of view, in terms of public image, how would you analyse this? How is it possible that she was even allowed to officially promote his boyfriend’s series through her website? Have you ever seen something like this before?

This whole situation has been handled so badly from day one that it doesn’t make any sense. I mean, promoting The Crown the way she did only because she’s dating him was a bad idea. I don’t know what publicist allowed that, but really, that was bad. From her first tweet to the BAFTA. And it was even before the rumor broke. I can accept that Gillian doesn’t know what’s going on in her fandom, even if I believe she actually knows a lot more than we think, but it’s her publicist’s job. Knowing how Gillovny this fandom is since forever, how invested we are in this, it was the worst move ever.

Come out first, and then promote your boyfriend as much as you want. It’s a simple rule that would have saved her a lot of unpleasantnesses, and us a lot of fandom dramas and meltdowns. But it’s Gillian Anderson, she does what the fuck she wants, so here we are. I don’t know how much is her not listening to her team’s advices, or her team being bad a handling chaos. Probably a good mix of both.

Walking any red carpet hand in hand for 3 minutes could have stopped that months ago and wouldn’t have cost them much. All in all, it is just so sad that it ends this way, with her body exposed and shamed in a horrible article from a disgusting paper.
