I can’t wrap my brain around it as to why did Gillian agree to do more x files. Her heart is obviously not in it, she seems to be interested in other projects which fit her image more these days or are more challenging as an actor (like Media). I don’t think she finds Scully challenging anymore, she struggled finding her in season 10 too and maybe she didn’t care enough to find her. The only thing she admittedly enjoyed was to work with David. What do you think what’s her reason this time?
