You have it wrong, anon. You may consider Gillian like your mum, but remember that she isn’t. Which means she doesn’t get to punish us for our behavior. I keep reading here and there that she owes us nothing, but guess what? It goes both ways. If we don’t like something, if we disagree with what she does, we’re free to express it with more or less virulence. I agree with you that there’s no need to tag her on that kind of posts or tweets, though.
We don’t know why she has cancelled the panel in Maine, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t to deprive us from the beauty of her presence but more by fear of a crowd and of the questions that might be raised. I don’t think it’s a coincidence she decided to interview Jennifer Nadel herself at Glastonbury instead of taking questions from the audience.
She’s doing XF again, so she’s not going to shut up about it just because some of us have been in disagreement with her lately. She’s not only an actress who only gets to act and that’s it. She’s also an entertainer, especially when she’s working on XF, so teasing and building an emulation around the show is also part of her job, either through official promotions with interviews or just tweets. Going against that would be a bad idea, would send a bad message, and would end up in getting bad press both for the series and for herself.
And Nelson counts.
