Of course she never said that. She’d been a bit coy showing her enthusiasm about season 11 during the whole negotiation period and more recently she explained how this season 11 basically depended on her. David and Chris were on board and it was up to her to either go for it or be the bad guy forever. You can see that in one of the interview table from NYCC (check this video, it’s at the very beginning). That’s what make some people think she was “forced” to do season 11, which is completely ridiculous in my opinion.
We’re all kind of “forced” to wake up every morning, go to work to make a few thousand dollars each month when we’re lucky. When there’s 6 zeros on your paycheck, the concept of “being forced” don’t make any sense anymore.
Gillian didn’t do this season against her will, she agreed to it for the reasons that belong to her, but it was her choice. No one else’s. So when people think they’re being supportive while saying stupid things like “free Gillian from the X-Files”, they’re actually being assholes wishing for Gillian to give up on the most important role of her whole career.
