Did you love last season and you want more X-Files or you just want D&G to keep working together? People who want Gillian to get away from The X-Files they simply didn’t enjoy it last time and they don’t want more of the same. They prefer to watch Gillian in American Gods and The Fall. I don’t know where you got the idea about the Oscars.

Starz killed American Gods and The Fall is over.

I have the same opinion as everyone else on season 10, of course. It wasn’t good. But we have 10 new episodes coming in less than a month and people already assume they’re so bad Gillian will never want to do it again even if she never said anything bad this show or its plot.
I’m confident this season will be good, I want more XF because I will always want more XF! I want Gillian and David working together because I will always be Gillovny.
I actually want Gillian and David to work. Period. Without XF, where Gillian’s career go? Small plays off broadway, a few lines in BBC TV movies and Bryan Fuller’s shows? David knows it, without XF, he’ll write and play music, but his career as an actor will never be the same so he’ll agree on doing more XF every time he gets the offer. And I think Gillian feel the same, only she has another strategy to get more money, and good for her. She doesn’t need to be freed from XF, I think it’s the total opposite that we should wish for her as fans.

I feel like some people expect Gillian’s career to rise up to the Oscars as soon as she’s off from XF. I’m just saying it’s not going to happen like that.

But how do you know that Gillian wants the exposure The X-Files gives hers? And why was she so hesitant to sign for s11 and why she says she’s done if she’s not? (I’m not a GA fan who wants her free for TXF, I’m an XF fan who even defended last season and loves to have more)

Because she’s a famous actress, and like every actress, she needs and wants exposure because without it, they die. Not literally, but you get the point. She has vanity in her, that’s her words, not mine, like Everyone else in this business. And i don’t say that in a mean way, actors needs vanity to do their job. They have to like being in the light, if not, they’d chose another job.
I don’t think she was hesitant. To me, this is just storytelling for media and for the public. I think it was only a matter of money. Nothing was about the plot, or the fans. Plots, fans, and range of acting don’t really matter anymore when there’s so many zeros aligned on your paycheck. I think negotiations took a long time because of the money she asked and maybe because of the number of episodes she signed for. But to me, she’d agreed to do season 11 way earlier than we think.

The free Gillian thing is silly but I disagree with your answer. Gillian said she did s11 because she felt last season didn’t do the show justice and she wanted to give it another chance to make things right. She says she wants different roles and that she prefers to play Stella again than Scully. I won’t be happy if The X-Files ends for Mulder and Scully but I won’t be surprised either. Plus now with Disney in the picture who knows if they’ll get a chance to do more.

Gillian said she agreed on season 11 to give the show a good ending only because she couldn’t decently say she did it because it pays well. I’m sure she’d rather play Stella than Scully even if I don’t remember her saying that in those words, but the fact is that The Fall isn’t coming back unlike X-Files. And even if it was coming back, it’s still a small Netflix show compared to the huge brands they produce lately. Also, its audience grew along with Jamie Dornan’s career thanks to Fifty Shade. Now that they killed him off, nothing says it’ll keep its audience only with Gillian. So she may prefer Stella to Scully, but Scully can keep existing whereas Stella is likely gone forever.
To be honest, I’ll be surprised if both David and Gillian say their final goodbye to XF with season 11.

Just want to jump in and agree with you and the other anons.. I’m so tired of seeing all this « Free Gillian » nonsense from the bigger blogs, like she’s some damsel stuck in a tower by CC & Co. She’s a grown ass woman who hasn’t been trapped in a terrible contract for nearly 20 years. Newsflash! If she didn’t want to do XF she wouldn’t! No one is forcing her. Let’s not be naive enough to think she’s only doing this for the fans. She’s doing it because it’s lucrative to her interests.

Exactly everything you said anon! Thank you!

I feel like one.

All this Scully death and Gillian deserves better than The X-Files talk makes me sad.  Yeah… I just felt like saying that.

Hard same to this. I’m selfish. I was XF to carry on with both of them because I am an XF fan first and a Gillian/David fan second. I doubt very much I would follow either of them if they hadn’t exploded into my screens as Mulder and Scully. As for needing to be ‘saved ’ from XF? Oh please. They are grown adults who are more than capable of saying no to any project they don’t want to do. Yeah, Gillian is a great actress who knows her craft well but she also needs to maintain her lifestyle – a lifestyle funded by the big bucks that have come her way from returning to TXF and by amassing a nice bundle of cash, she can now pick and choose a bit as to her next project and good for her. I’m sure that was very much a consideration when she signed back up and anyone who believes she did it for the fans, or to gain closure is barking mad! Gillian is a very smart woman who understands cause and effect I’m sure. She’s not some delicate little flower who needs ‘saving ’ from evil tv roles and frankly, I find it quite disrespectful to assume she is.

I agree with you. Wishing the end of XF equals wishing the end of Gillian’s caree. It’s odd that her hardcore fans can’t see it.

Well, that’s because her hardcore fans believe that as soon as she drops XF, she’ll become an A-list actress winning Oscar after Oscar and finally have the recognition she deserves.
It’s not realistic at all.
I don’t know if the end of XF equals the end of Gillian’s career but it certainly will lower her exposure, especially living in the UK. I think it all depends on what you want for Gillian. I want her to keep doing big international projects in which she has leading roles, and I don’t think there’s anything but XF that could give her this chance so far. So be it!
If you want Gillian to show of all her range as an actress in smaller roles in smaller projects, then yeah, I get their point. But I don’t believe that’s what Gillian wants for her career.

I’m pissed JHH! Why is there people in this fandom saying Gillian deserves better than XF and that they forces her to make season 11 but they won’t force her to do more. She’s her own boss, why are people so stupid?

Don’t be pissed, anon. When those people will realize that XF made Gillian who she is now, that without this show she wouldn’t be there and that XF is the ONLY thing paying her bills, this fandom will have made a huge step.

No one forced Gillian to do anything, she’s free, and I’m sure we’ll have this same conversation when she signs for another season because with XF comes money and fame. If XF disappears, Gillian might do some other projects that will be more interesting acting-wise but nothing she’ll choose will have the same exposure. You just have to see what’s she’s working on besides XF.
I think everyone forgets that she’s not just an actress. She’s a business woman, and a pretty good one. So if XF is good for her career, she’ll jump in as long as it is. Taking easy big money from Fox half of the year and doing some smaller projects aside sounds like a good strategy at this point of her career. Except if you believe she has some big secret project to come. But I don’t think so…
Same goes to David, I think.

Gillovny prompt for you jhh: I remember you said you have a denial theory that Gillovny is doing all that with PM and MP so they can come out later as a new couple and the press won’t ask about their past. Could you maybe turn this theory into a fanfic? Thank you! <3

It’s been a year since they agreed on this. The decision was made quickly, he feels like he didn’t even have his word to say. They expressed their desire to come out, they explained their worries, some guy in a five fingers black suit found a solution in three steps. “Easy,” he said. Gillian said “yes,” his lawyer signed a paper, her lawyer signed it too, they shook hands and it was done. “Easy,” he repeated to himself.

It was “easy,” at least in the beginning. They found the perfect guy, British but not really, divorced but not really, the type of guy she could be attracted to. But not really. He felt odd when he had to let her go with him the first time, but he got used to it. It was the first step, his own first step, actually. He had to learn to share. Ceremony after ceremony, he had to watch the love of his life show herself with another man.

Jealous would be an understatement to define him. He’s possessive, territorial even. But her sweet words and soft touches never failed to reassure him. He was the one and the only one for her. He convinced himself that he could live like that a little more. It was for the best. Even after a certain day of June, when she called him in tears to apologize for what she called “an unfortunate accident”, he still thought it was the right thing to do. It was his turn to reassure her, to tell her it was okay and to renew his trust in her.

But if he was being honest with himself, he knew it wasn’t okay. Something has changed between them, and he feared it was forever. He made it to a new step. He had to learn to live without watching, reading, listening, caring. He had to rely on trust and only on trust, even though when he closed his eyes at night, this picture haunted his dreams turning them into terrible nightmares. Even today, when he finds himself on his knees in a moment of pure intimacy, with his hands on her hips, he has to take a deep breath and chase the ghost of Italy away before he strips her down. She knows, he can see it. He can tell that her lips say “I love you,” but her eyes say “I’m sorry.” They usually take twenty-five years to resolve their issues and he isn’t sure they have twenty-five more years to resolve this one. It was supposed to make them happier, to allow them to live their life normally, as a couple and as individuals too. But it’s consuming them slowly from the inside. Day after day, the sparkle in her eyes faded. Her smile became sad. Her demeanor more severe. She was happy to work with him, he could tell. But every time she had a new appearance scheduled with “him”, he could feel her apprehension and reluctancy weeks before the D-day.

He tried to negotiate with the guy in a fancy suit. Maybe what she did was enough already. Maybe it could stop now. They could skip the second step and launch the final one. The happy one. But he “knew his job”, and he had to “trust him.” So David threw himself in the second step. He picked a girl. Young but not really, smart but not really, sweet but not really. The kind of girl everyone expected him to be with, according to fancy-suit.
Oddly, it made Gillian laugh to see whom they had chosen for him. She seemed to have found a second breath. Maybe it’s because they shared the attention now. “Where’s your girlfriend?” she used to tease him. She bought him Viagra once, and they laughed heartedly for an hour.

But soon, it’ll be his turn to play his part more seriously. It’ll be her turn to rely on trust. To live without watching, reading, listening. Soon, they won’t live in their own bubble anymore. There won’t be no apartment where they can hold each other at night, no trailer where they can have a few minutes break just the two of them, no private places where they can talk through all of this. He hopes with all his heart they can make it to the final step but he’s afraid of what will be left of them and how long it’ll take to rebuild the new shape of their relationship.
“It’s gonna be easy,” he lies in her ear as she falls asleep in his arms.

Rayford Hollywood Goes Secret Birthday

August 10, 2015

*** “There was also Gillian Anderson with the oldest of her children and … also celebrating her birthday! Anyone would say that instead of shooting a new season this trio met simply to sing happy birthday.”

Anyone want to properly translate this column for me??

I’m loving Gs hand in the top pic taking a pic of D blowing out his candle. 😆😍
