The comparison seem just impossible here. If she had acknowledged David, she would have known the consequences behind it. She can’t just drop David’s name on something not related to XF and expect people to not freak out. If he had helped her with the book, it would have been known beforehand, she would have added a few words to explain as to what he was acknowledged for.
I’m sorry but since the beginning of this rumor, I keep getting asks comparing David and Peter Morgan, and I keep reading things like “if it was David, they would take it as a confirmation blah blah blah”. But actually, it’s just impossible for me to wrap my mind on this comparison. Her relationship with Peter Morgan, whatever it is, will never be something to be compared to the one she has with David, either privately nor publicly. I don’t know how anyone being in this fandom and knowing Gillian and David can expect us to have the same reaction towards what she does with David and what she does with anyone else.
So, Gillian Anderson made a surprise appearance at one of your shows. What do you remember about that?
DD: That was my first performance in New York. That was really the album release performance. I remember being nervous at that, and I think we had just said we were going to do more X Files, and we were going to do the Television Critics Association Awards. Gillian was in town to do that the next day. I just thought it would be fun if she came up and sang a song. She didn’t know any of my songs, but we were going to do a cover of “Helpless” by Neil Young. I got her on the phone and she rehearsed over the phone with the band to get the key she could sing it at. That was that.
I can’t agree more! He wasn’t going to say this is the worst Valentine’s Day of my life, I’d rather be anywhere else but here with you!
He smirked, he wanted to be cute and funny, it’s a stage trick, it made girls scream, that’s what it was about.
David isn’t the type of person to confess on stage about his private life anyway, in a sense or another. Not on purpose, at least. He had planned to say that, it was part of the show, but it’s just a show.
Remember how he was when he spontaneously said “Nate’s he single guy” last year? He was all embarrassed and odd for two minutes after he said it. That wasn’t planned, and put him out of his comfort zone, you could see it.
He’s a Rockstar now. rockstars aren’t supposed to be in a relationship 😉
