Can you explain something for me? I don’t understand. Some bloggers said that G added P’s Crown link to her website because they’re dating, she’s proud and in love. Then I read you said it was a Netflix link, not personal. I’m scared to look. Help?

Look, I don’t bring my job so often to justify my answers, but in this case, let me get this straight. Adding a direct link to Netflix on a celeb’s official website has nothing to do with proud or love. It’s marketing and publicity, plain and simple. Either you believe they’re dating or not, that’s what it is.

Maybe it’s me but the fact that so many people think that the only reason that Gillian is hanging out with Peter is because she wants or has a part in « The Queen » is incredibly insulting to Gillian. Do they think that the way she gets roles? That she has to prostitute herself so she can be on a series? Frankly, the more restrained behavior that Gillian has with Peter tells me it is serious as opposed to the silly antics with David. I think there was more than a little performing going on there.

Who said she was hanging out with him to get a role? That would have been very insulting, indeed. I do think there’s something going on with this show and Gillian. Either she’ll be involved in it or not in further seasons, there is a reason why she promotes it so much, and I don’t think it’s (only) a personal reason. It means nothing like she’s cast-couching or whatever. That would be silly to think that way. And when actresses or actors are actually cast-couching, they don’t do it openly at the Golden Globes anyway.

I wish you or somebody had a contact at Netflix’s Marketing Department. Both of them are well-known in Britain. It’s really weird that not even the British media are talking about them. And this thing with The Crown, from day one, even on her official website

Yes, the link on her official wasn’t personal at all. She doesn’t run it herself. She didn’t ask her team to, “please put a link to redirect people on The Crown page on Netflix because I’m dating the creator”. It was pure endorsement, and an demand from Netflix to promote this show. I’ve been theorizing a lot about Gillian promoting The Crown over the last few months, some of what I’ve said were only my theories (and I still stick to it, even if no one has to agree with me), but this link on her website is 100% official publicity coming from Netflix, and in my opinion, her tweets were too.
