It’s actually named “Regeneration” and no one knows why. We don’t even know if it’s supposed to be a French word or an English word. But I guess it was clear in the marketing people’s mind who found this title. Brilliant idea not.
I actually don’t know, we know absolutely nothing, we have been working on the deal for many months and it’s really us taking an opportunity to maybe bring closure. I didn’t really feel like the end of the last season was a place for us to finish definitely. There was a lot of consideration about whether there really was an audience for it, whether it was something that we could improve on and how if we were moving forward, could make them even better. In the end, we agreed that we would like to have one more go at it.
We know that the fans are still there. The surprising thing was that there are new fans. There’s a whole other generation of fans who discovered it through Netflix and I think to be met still by 13 years olds who are talking about how they have seen all the episodes or they just start watching a year ago and they obsess and they can’t wait for the new season. The show has a longevity beyond what we had ever imagined.
I totally agree with you! Let’s delete season 10 from our memory and move on with something better. I think it would allow the show to go back to its old self with monsters or another, believable and better mythological arc.
We will know what happened in those two years anyway, we just don’t get to see Mulder dying and Scully finding a far fetched way to cure him.
Okay, this might be an unpopular opinion, but if what The Sun say is true, I actually like the idea. I mean, I didn’t want Mulder dying on that bridge, that last episode was a total bullshit from the first second, I don’t want to hear about stem cells again, and please! A SPACE SHIP ABOVE WASHINGTON?
If I was CC, I wouldn’t hesitate for one second to play it off as if nothing happened, erase the mythology of season 10 and start from scratch again. Let’s all pretend My Struggle and My Struggle 2 were his drafts and let’s come up with something better.
It’s only 10 episodes, and he would have ruined at least 2 to close this virus story with too much of agent Miller and Mulder coughing blood.
Also, can you imagine what could have happened msr wise in 2 years?
Fox are typically keeping their cards close to the chest as to what will happen in Season 11, but events will take place two years after season 10.
In the series finale, Mulder’s life was left hanging in the balance as he succumbed to a deadly virus, but in the final moments, a triangle-shaped UFO shone a bright light over him, Scully and Miller.
The episode ended with Scully looking at the lights of the spacecraft.
That’s probably the safer decision to make. I wish I was that brave, but I’m just too weak for social media, and I’m not sure I could stay away for weeks before it airs. I wouldn’t miss the fun with you guys. So I’ll have endure it once again, and get pissed at Fox for ruining it again. I hope they change their strategy, though. In my opinion, it was stupid, non-fans won’t watch them, hardcore-fans will and then be disappointed and angry. No one is winning in this. I remember they pretended to leak unfinished trailers and even faked a mistake by leaking Babylon on Hulu one day before the airing date on Fox. It sounded desperate, so I hope season 11 is good enough do they don’t have to use that kind of tricks.
We’re all different in this matter, so I can only tell you about me. I HATE SPOILERS! I really do. I never watch a trailer of any other shows, I slapped one of my colleague once because he spoiled me House of Cards and I still hate him to death for that, but when it comes to the X-Files, and because I’m here, it has to be a little different. I didn’t know what to do with season 10, I barely had a blog during the filming, i was only lurking here, but I figured out I wasn’t bothered at all by all the pictures and videos coming from the set. I did unfollow one blog in particular who kept theorizing about what this or that would mean for the story, and I was kind of bothered by that. I refollowed the blog after that.
Actually, the worst part for me was the actual Fox spoilers. The closer we got from the airing, the worst it became. They started to release, not only trailers, but entire scenes of each episodes, with the best bits, revealing everything, and inevitably making the episode itself a little bit disappointing. I mean, I would have enjoyed MSMTWM ten times more if I hadn’t seen the sex scene and the red speedo scene a week before it aired. What was left to enjoy? Same for Babylon. They showed pretty much the whole mushroom scene, including the dancing one a long time before the episode aired. I mean why? This episode sucked, and it was the only enjoyable part. Why spoiling it?
So to sum it up, pictures and videos from the set are nothing, they won’t spoil you, and your interpretation of them will likely be false. But be careful when we get closer to the airing date. I’m still not sure what I’ll do myself. Last year, I really wanted to avoid spoilers, but seeing those videos on my dash everyday, all those gifs, and people talking about them, there was nothing I could do. I’ll tag all my spoilers, and I wish everyone would, but it’s a wishful thought.
I honestly have no idea how I might react to a redhead Gillian. It will probably be quite a shock. I’m expecting to see her red, but still, I’m not prepared at all. I keep wondering what shade of red it’ll be, if she changed her haircut too and what haircut Scully will have.
Actually, I keep imagining a hot red Stella as Scully…
David Duchovny: We are gonna shot 10 episodes, starting in August. I feel like 6 was a start. Unfortunately, I think, there is such a gap to cover and so much story to tell that by the time we could get going on new stuff we were already half-way through the season. So I think 10 will be a little more comprehensible, a little more relaxed, a little less dense so I’m looking forward to this iteration? of the show. (X)
