Hi! Do you remember when exactly they started filming last season? Or at least what month because I forgot ;D And maybe this time they will start sooner as they have more episodes to film. Hope so. (Because why would her hair be red already?)

They started in late June in 2015. But I’m assuming if she wants to surprise us, and maybe make an appearance at the Upfronts or something, it’s possible she went red already, or maybe they’re preparing something else and she had to go red before they start filming for real. But something is happening with her hair, I can smell Gillian-troll already!

David Duchovny talks X-Files, sports fandom and Bucky F*ing Dent | Petros And Money | AM 570 LA Sports

youokay-mulder:

David Duchovny is best-known for his golden globe-winning performances on The X-Files and Californication, but his career has also included a wide-array of ventures ranging from directing and producing to writing.

Duchovny’s newest novel, “Bucky F*ing Dent”, is a father-son tale that draws its name from the lesser-known Yankees Player that crushed the Red Sox in a 1978 playoff game. On Tuesday, Duchovny joined Petros and Money to discuss the book, his sports fandom and the similarities, if any, between himself and Hank Moody from Californication.

And, of course, Duchovny touched on his continued work on The X-Files more than two decades after the iconic science fiction drama originally aired.

Below is an excerpt of what Duchovny had to say about why he keeps coming back to The X-Files series.

“First of all, I think the show is great, the frame is great and the characters are great,” Duchovny said. “But that wouldn’t be enough to just keep coming back over and over again. What I figured out the last time is it’s a very interesting challenge for any actor. I think it’s unique for [co-star Gillian Anderson] and I to be able to play the characters over so many years. I can’t play [Fox Mulder] the same way I played him 20 years ago. It would be obscene in a way, it just wouldn’t fit. So you ask: How do I play the same guy 20 years later? It’s an interesting question.”

“First of all, I think the show is great and the frame is great and the characters are great, but that wouldn’t be enough to just keep on coming back over and over again. What I figured out in the last time around was that it’s a very interesting challenge for an actor– for any actor–and I think it’s unique for Gillian and I, to be able to play characters over so many years. I just can’t imagine other actors who are afforded that luxury.

So the question is…I can’t play Mulder the same way I played him 25 years ago, that would be obscene in a way…it just wouldn’t fit. So the question is how do I make him the same guy 25 years later? And that’s an interesting acting question. So I like that challenge is those terms.”

Petros and Money Show, 4/25/17

It’s a strike which means if the writers are in the union they shouldn’t work. So if they haven’t written the episodes they can’t do it which can stall production. Look at all the shows that were cut down during the last writer’s strike. I thought you worked in the industry but you just prove again that you know nothin

Dear anon, first of all, the strike isn’t voted yet and it most likely won’t happen. Then, there’s differences between screenwriters. Those who are meant to go strike are usually those who directly work for a studio, which is not the case with xf. They work for 1013 who owns the show and sell the airing rights to Fox. That’s why all the shows mentioned to be impacted by the strike right now are Studio shows and Late night shows, and xf is not among them. Finally, for now, shows that are impacted are those who are filming right now, in May, which is not the case of xf.

If xf’s writer go strike, it’s because they’re currently working for a studio or by solidarity, but at this point of the negotiations, I think we’re safe. But you seem to know so much more than me, though.

Why Fox Reviving ‘The X-Files’ Has Us Concerned — Very Good Television Podcast

easilyreferenced:

We now know that the next season will consist of 10 episodes, and that production theoretically begins this summer for the 2017-2018 season. But beyond that, there are still plenty of mysteries left unsolved — especially given that showrunner Chris Carter has a questionable track record with the series when he takes a more hands-on approach creatively (after all, he was the one behind the ending of last season)…. Season 10 of “The X-Files” managed to let down its fervent and loyal fanbase with that questionable finale, but pessimism aside, it’s still fun to be excited about a new season of “The X-Files” again. Listen to IndieWire TV Editor Liz Shannon Miller and TV Critic Ben Travers debate the issue in this week’s Very Good TV Podcast.

Why Fox Reviving ‘The X-Files’ Has Us Concerned — Very Good Television Podcast

Please don’t think I am rude, I’m not meaning to be. Just wondering why all these bloggers who keep coming out with stuff about Chris Carter, (who created the best sci fi show ever in my view) criticizing season 10, pulling the episodes apart non stop. Why don’t they boycott season 11? I have been a X Fan since it started, not really big on MSR. I think it was done spot on in the 90’s. I was never expecting season 10 to be as good but I it enjoyed nonetheless. If people arent happy….1/2

2/2 …If they are not happy with how season 10 went, why bother watching Season 11. To me MSR/Gillovny fans just want romance and love. It is a sci fi show first and foremost. I have seen ‘don’t let Chris Carter near the writing desk’. How disrespectful is that. Then someone has set up a petition to Fox to try and ensure David writes an episode. Since when did Gillovny/MSR think they had the right to dictate to CC & Co. I think they forget the show has die hard sci fans watching too. Not good.

Okay, first of all, where’s this petition? I want to sign it with my blood.

Then, season 10 wasn’t “good”. There was 2 episodes and a half that were actually good, in my opinion (and not only), but you have the right to disagree. It’s subjective after all. I did enjoy it though, at this point, I would have enjoyed pretty much anything. But it’s not the same now, our thirst for more episodes was quenched, so he has to do it right this time for us to fully enjoy it.

What I think is that Chris Carter is just not able to keep writing this show in 2017. He has created it, he’ll always own it, and this fandom we’ll be eternally grateful to him for that, but it’s time for him and for us to move on. It’s not the 90′s anymore, time has passed, tv has changed, the way we write series too, but Chris Carter seem stuck in his old-fashioned way of seeing things, and his stuborness to keep going against what the fans ask is more than annoying.

You have the right to see it as a sci-fi show, I guess it is, I love the monsters, I love (most of) the mythology, but to me it’s more than a sci-fi show. It’s the best love story on television ever. Of all time. You have the right to think shippers don’t understand the show and have no rights to criticize Chris Carter, but do you know what shippers want? One real kiss. In plain light. (And all the outakes for the sake of Gillovny shippers too). Do you really think it is too much to ask? In 25 years? Because I guess Chris Carter does think it is, and it is beyond my comprehension. You can have all the aliens and stem cells you want, but just allow all the shippers of this planet to have a decent development of the characters Chris Carter has created, and a closure that would please us. I think we deserve it.

You enjoyed the Revival, good for you. But don’t forget there’s a whole side of the fandom, living and breathing right next to you, who has just been suffering for the last 25 years, and had to endure Chris Carter’s decision to cut Mulder’s kiss on Scully’s CHEEK after 10 years of nothingness.

It’s enough.

I think GA coming back to do more XF’s is foremost a business decision this time around based on the fact it took so long to settle negotiations. If she was really doing more episodes out of her enthusiasm for the show she’d have come to a decision sooner. Last year she even said she got no fulfilment from playing Scully anymore. I also think she realizes it wasn’t fair to leave the last season on a cliffhanger (thank you very f*cking much Chris Carter).

Gillian doesn’t come back in The X-Files for the love of Alien abductions and stem cells stories. No one is doubting that. But there are many other motivations than only business and money. She said many times that what she enjoyed the most in season 10 was to work with the old crew and with David, so I think there’s that too. I also hope she managed to deal the directing or the writing or both of one episode at least. I think she also does it for us, because of the pressure, because if we don’t get a decent closure, there’s no way she was going to be left alone with that and “allowed” to move on.

I’m not saying she’s a total philanthropist, no one is in this business, of course money matters, and for now, she can’t get as much money as what she makes with xf with any other show. But money isn’t everything.

Do you think it’s possible they could have exaggerated the length of time the negotiations took a bit and the question of will they or won’t they be back so that there would be more interest when they did announce it? It made more buzz than it would have if they just said they ordered another season last year.

No, I don’t think so. I don’t believe Fox have any interest in delaying season 11 for a year. If they could have aired it this year, they would have. They could have had the benefit of the Revival buzz and good ratings. The more they waited, the more the buzz faltered and the audience (fans aside) disengaged and forgot it was even a thing. They have everything to recreate again, and remind everyone it’s still a thing and it’s happening again now.

Blonde Scully

I’ve seen some posts going around about The Hair Issue, and I know there were a lot of mixed feelings about the wigs Gillian wore during Season 10.  I think we can all agree that while we’d love for Scully to have her iconic red hair, in the event that a dye job would do too much harm to Gillian’s hair, how do we feel about a blonde Scully?  I, for one, would be thrilled.  I think it would allow Gillian to connect easier with Scully without the added physical discomfort of the wig.

I present, for your consideration, Exhibit A:

Now, I realize that this is a photoshoot, but I ain’t mad at this look, to be honest.

What are your thoughts???

I’m not a fan of a blonde Scully, honestly. Scully is a redhead – she just is. But if it’s between the awful red wig of S10 or real blonde? I’ll take platinum white see-through towhead Scully, hands down.

I can’t get behind the blonde very easily.  Gillian had a hard time “finding Scully” in Season 10 I feel, and I think having essentially “Stella hair” would make that even harder, for her and for the viewers.  I’d go for the wig over blonde hair, even as awful as it was.  However, I’d have to think they’ve got enough time to remedy that situation this time around.  Please???

I’m with you guys. I cannot get behind a blonde Scully. Give me that wig any day. Scully is a redhead. She doesn’t need the bright red hair she once had, a lighter strawberry blonde would do. She is older, her hair would lighten. But it would still be red.

The issue last time was that she had to dye her hair back blonde immediately for Stella, which would do great damage to her hair. This time, as far as we know, there are no projects for her directly afterwards that demand blonde hair. I’m hoping she can dye it this time, since it seemed she wanted to last time but couldn’t because of logistics.

I would have a hard time with blonde Scully too – but I also hold the hope that in case dying her hair isn’t possible, someone will make GA a better wig?

What about just some semi-perm dye? I mean there are ways. Seriously. No blonde Scully for me either. I missed her constantly fussing with her bangs and brushing it from her face. And I feel like that affected her ability to get in to character.

Ps Mulder’s hair could use some work too. It was shockingly bad.

Keep everything the same, but dye the hair RED.

Gillian looks so natural as a blonde, I’d love to see Scully blonde. That wig removed me from being able to concentrate on the revival at all. It was so distracting and phoney. Gillian’s face looked stretched and wrong. She’s too beautiful for that shit.

I can’t deal with that wig one more time. Her whole face looked red and stretched. Dye her hair or blond Scully and this-haircut Mulder all the way! Let them be at their hottest!
