mxdwn: What do you hold for the future of the X-Files in this season and beyond especially now that Gillian Anderson has said she is leaving the show?
DD: I have never really thought of the future in that way. When I originally left the television show, I thought that we were just going to continue on and do movies, I never wanted the show to end. The movie arena for the show dried up, and I just thought it was the end, but then cable came along and the shortened season kind of came over to network television. It was something I knew that we could do in a shortened version of the show. I’ve been surprised all along the way. I have no idea what form it takes. Do we get to do a movie? And then who wants to do the movie? I’d rather look at these 10 episodes as really good television and not think that it’s the end because we certainly didn’t shoot it like it was the end.
FOX has released promo photos from “Nothing Lasts Forever” which will air as episode 9 on Wednesday, March 14th. We don’t think we’re going to make it until then if just the photos hurt this much. Check out the rest in their high res downloadable glory here.
I love acting. I love show business. I love the movies. I love television. But it doesn’t mean anything compared to my kids. It’s just something that takes over when you have kids. It’s like when you work you have a call sheet and number one, two, three, four on the call sheet, and it’s like, everything moves down. When you have a kid, everything in life takes a back seat. My daughter, Madelaine West, is a woman now. She is 18. She has a small part in the last episode. My son, Kyd Miller, is 15.
There has been some concern that international stations would air new episodes from Season 11 while the U.S. was on hiatus for the Olympics. FOX confirmed to XFN 2 weeks ago that the hiatus applies to all international airings as well.
FOXTEL in Australia corrected a mistake that said Episode 7 would be airing there this week. It will not be. We have reached out to FOX again to re-confirm the international air dates and will share that as soon as we have it. But for now it is safe to assume that we will all be waiting a few more weeks.
I don’t know what people at FOX are waiting for but, in case they haven’t noticed, we are in 2018. If they do not take action now and stop this insanity, there will be no point in airing the episodes 7-10 in America because by March 1 every frame of the remaining episodes will be on all social media
