‘The X-Files’ Season 11 Review: Mulder and Scully Return, and The Results Are Genuinely Exciting
The episodes of Season 11 which fall under that umbrella very much embody that concept, especially when the writers and directors make the bold choice to let Anderson and Duchovny share multiple scenes together. While there are many instances of Mulder and Scully going off on their individual pursuits, the best moments we’ve seen so far in these new episodes all feature this legendary duo working in sync.
In fact, Anderson and Duchovny’s chemistry has rarely been better in the 20-plus years they’ve been playing these characters. While, during much of Season 10, they seemed a bit hamstrung and subdued by the fact that both professionally and personally, their characters were no longer involved, Season 11 allows Mulder and Scully to stay on the same page. And the duo really let their characters’ deep history play out on screen, showcasing their natural familiarity and reminding us just why this show has kept its fans engaged for so long.
Season 11 so far isn’t flawless, but it’s a lively, character-focused affair that feels far more unified than we’d ever anticipated, a massive improvement over Season 10 that gives us genuine hope for the second half. For the first time in a while, we’re truly excited to see more.

When did GA ever say she was forced to do Season 11? Is it in an interview? I just don’t remember her ever saying that!
Of course she never said that. She’d been a bit coy showing her enthusiasm about season 11 during the whole negotiation period and more recently she explained how this season 11 basically depended on her. David and Chris were on board and it was up to her to either go for it or be the bad guy forever. You can see that in one of the interview table from NYCC (check this video, it’s at the very beginning). That’s what make some people think she was “forced” to do season 11, which is completely ridiculous in my opinion.
We’re all kind of “forced” to wake up every morning, go to work to make a few thousand dollars each month when we’re lucky. When there’s 6 zeros on your paycheck, the concept of “being forced” don’t make any sense anymore.
Gillian didn’t do this season against her will, she agreed to it for the reasons that belong to her, but it was her choice. No one else’s. So when people think they’re being supportive while saying stupid things like “free Gillian from the X-Files”, they’re actually being assholes wishing for Gillian to give up on the most important role of her whole career.

His -‘why haven’t you given me a treat I’ve been standing here for .001 of a second!’ – look.

I really want to enjoy The Xfiles, I’m a super fan!! It’s been my life since 93. But it’s really hard to do when Gillian is slipping it in where ever possible that she doesn’t want to do the show, and that she was basically forced into doing more. This really upsets me. I remember listening to the podcast when she was getting everybody to tweet Fox to bring the show back. (I can’t remember the hashtag she decided on) but she seemed so into it and excited. Now we hear her saying she was forced!!
I think you should forget about what she says and watch her behave. Sometimes, actions speak louder than words. She might give you the impression she was forced to do those episodes in her interviews, but don’t forget that she does what the fuck she wants. Nobody forced her to do anything. You shouldn’t listen to those XF / David haters who will interpret her words to fit their weird agenda. Seeing how she seems to enjoy herself, I think she is excited and happy to do those episodes.
Sit back and enjoy, anon! There’s nothing you should worry about here.
