It could be a lot of people, as you said. For example, she’d already opened up about previous boyfriends when she was a teenager who weren’t necessarily good for her, there’s a really dark side in Gillian’s past, and it’s probably a lot more darker and toxic than anything she could have experienced with David.
Also, a few decades long relationship doesn’t necessarily mean a romantic one. She could’ve had a bad friendship, or a ‘toxic’ relationship with her parent(s), or her first husband, or that second husband (didn’t that end badly?) Like you said, I definitely don’t think it’s DD. He probably knows more than enough bad things about GA to ruin her reputation completely. Besides, they act like they love each other every time they’re together.
