I don’t know the nature of the contracts between 1013 and Fox, but the way I see it is that 1013 produces, and hires the writers, the editors, and probably most of the crew. Intellectually, the show belongs to Chris and 1013, but financially, it belongs to Fox. They’ve bought the rights for a lifetime, they’re the only ones who can air it, and sell it abroad. The franchise belongs to them, hence why Chris can’t do anything without their approval. Also, 1013 doesn’t do anything else, pretty much, so without Fox, they’re dead. They keep making money because Fox and all the channels in the world who have bought airing rights to them keep airing the show, so 1013 keep making money.
I don’t know if I’m clear… but XF isn’t properly a studio show, like, let’s say CSI, who is entirely produced by CBS, in the CBS studio, with the CBS and Paramount writers, directly hired by CBS. That’s why I think they’ll be the last one to be impacted by the strike, if there’s even one.
