Since when is it not okay to decline answering a personal question?

I’ve read several posts that David gets a pass on personal topics in interviews but Gillian is forced to answer questions about her home life because she’s a woman?

Really, she’s somehow required to divulge the fact that her son had an erection while naked on her bed? She was made to say her daughter’s father was boring so she divorced him. The press room door was locked until she admitted that she needs a ‘back door’ in order to consider a long term relationship all because she’s female?

For goodness sake, ‘No Comment’ or ‘I would like to keep my personal life private’ or ‘I will answer questions about my upcoming projects’. What the hell is wrong with that?

If I recall David has told many stories about his kids, his mom and Teà but has not spoken about his romanic life since his divorce. I’m pretty sure he sets boundaries before an interview and that’s why those questions aren’t asked, not because he has a penis.

Maybe Gillian can take a page from his playbook an keep her mouth shut about private things. I certainly wouldn’t be offended if she wanted to talk about life after the X-Files or what her next dream role would be or even what it’s like to be 50 and getting work as an actor or one of her charities or just maybe what are her other talents and would she ever consider doing something else besides acting?

I really can’t bear to hear one more of her adolescent son’s coming of age sex stories or her disrespecting her past and present lovers (btw, it’s not a secret, they’re MEN).

If you think David gets better treatment then maybe you should ask yourself why Gillian doesn’t demand such treatment for herself? She is a strong, independent woman, I think it’s about time she acts like one and takes responsibility for her actions and image.

Amen.
