I assume you’re talking about these two little videos:
– Gillian asking “where the fuck is David”
– Gillian yelling “David!”, and saying “he can get off his ass and get over here"
But I wouldn’t call it “bad mood”, though. At the time, I found it extremely funny and cute, and I still do. That’s just their dynamic. She bosses him around, and he doesn’t mind because he loves her.
Something was definitely off at the time of The Boston Comic Con and all the cons that followed until the one she eventually cancelled. When you compare to the ones she did in early 2016 or before, she definitely behaved differently. We put it on exhaustion, even if she just had a month of vacation, probably with David, in California, but maybe it was something else, indeed.
He had seen the photographs of course because they were everywhere and though she was a free agent, he had been unable to prevent a lingering sense of disappointment, not to mention sadness, that she had allowed herself to be exposed in such a way. Her privacy, he had discovered over the years, was everything to her and in the space of a few days, everything she had fought so hard to protect from a public hungry for scandal, had come tumbling down around her. She would be hurting right now for sure, but surely she must know that he was hurting also?
He made it to the fourth ring before his resolve weakened and he snatched up the phone, swiping angrily at the screen to connect the call, waiting for her to speak first and the sound of her voice made his stomach clench as though sucker punched, the quiet desperation all too evident even across the ocean that had always formed a chasm between them that once they had believed their love could bridge, but now knew not to be the case. “I’ve done something so stupid….” She is trying not to cry even as she chokes out her need of him and even though he wants to resist, to not allow himself to be the emotional crutch she turns back to time and time again, he knows it is futile just as it has always been. Because he is powerless to resist her when she calls to him.
Long hours pass and the dawn streaks the sky as he rests his head against the small window, dark glasses and pulled-down baseball cap obscuring much of his face. He can only pray he can remain anonymous because he has no real wish to become embroiled in this whole sorry mess. But she is his friend and she is hurting so he has to go to her, hoping he can be as adept at hiding himself as he has always been. As adept as she *used* to be. They taught each other well. End

I think it was real, and somehow still is. Gillovny is always real, no matter what. I think they were a couple from circa 2011/2012 ‘till the beginning of the summer of 2016 at least. I’m not quite sure Gillian and PM were really “dating” when the rumor started in October 2016, or it might have been the very beginning. Sadly, we will never know what happened between Gillian and David. I’m just glad they look okay with each other, which should make a great season 11 Gillovny-wise, at least, if not for the plot. So that’s something. And hopefully, they’ll get back together soon.
That’s a good question, and I’m not sure one can answer it. Some people say that being a fan of something or someone, in general, means you have something lacking in your life, or you have issues, or whatever. I don’t believe that. I don’t feel like there’s something particularly lacking in my life, and to quote (or paraphrase, maybe) Gillian, I’m very happy with my life and what’s in it. I guess I would need years of therapy to find out what brought me to become a fan in general and a Gillovny fan in particular. Probably some unconscious issues, but who doesn’t have some?
I don’t think I’d be happy with that kind of relationship. I need things to be clear and straight, so ambiguous relationships are not my thing, so for me, it’s not that.
So I have no idea why I’m here, I have no idea why you’re here, if some do know, I’d be genuinely curious to hear their story so maybe I can see if I can relate to them. But all in all, I’m just happy that we’re all here!
Yes, she said that once. But as long as we don’t know when David wrote his new songs, it’s hard to tell. He said he wrote many of them at the time he got divorced from Tea. So it’s possible he wrote that one at this time. It could fit too. 🤷🏽♀️
I agree with you, and I’d go with the second solution. Things are probably not that easy and a lot more complicated, but I think they were together for a few years, and I think they’ll get back to each other sooner or later.

I couldn’t decently make the kind of timeline I made last year, with sightings and rumors, but even if we felt like Gillovny wasn’t very active this semester, there’s still quite a few things that shows the unconditional love between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson…

Gillovny timeline 2016 part 1 – part 2
January 10th: David is at the New Orleans Wizard World with Mitch Pileggi.
– It took him 8 minutes to talk about Gillian when no one asked him to (video) : Question: “Mitch what’s the favorite scene that you did with David and David what’s the favorite scene you did with Mitch?” David: “That would have been a great question if it was: Mitch what’s your favorite scene to do with David, David what’s your favorite scene to do with Gillian. That would have made me laugh. I thought it was coming. It didn’t come.”
– He talked about Gillian being a horrible a driver and told the now famous neck-brace prank (video): David: “Gillian’s a terrible driver. She had car accidents with nothing. Like the world was empty. There was nothing on the street. I was so relaxed. And she hit something. Hard. Backing up into it. So we had a little whiplash. She hit the nothing that was there. Hard.” Mitch: “Gillian is a horrible driver.” David: “But she thinks, she is good. That’s the hard part. So please don’t tell her.”
– Gillian answered a week later with a tweet (source) : “Excellent driver on both land and sea.”
January 22nd: David was obviously scrolling though Gillian’s tag on Twitter and liked this tweet.
February 8th: David was on a podcast. The interviewer said “Give your girl, Gillian a call! Get her on that.” He answered “Okay.”
February 9th: During a podcast, David was asked about Gillian in the Fall and he said she was “very very very good. Very great” (podcast – starts at 26:50 min)
February 13th: During a Facebook Live, the interviewed ask David is they can call “Scully”. He answered “yeah, when we’re not rolling!” (source)

– Variety shipped them for Valentine’s Day. (source)

– During an interview for his music tour, David remembered Gillian being on stage with him at The Cutting Room. (source) : That was my first performance in New York. That was really the album release performance. I remember being nervous at that, and I think we had just said we were going to do more X Files, and we were going to do the Television Critics Association Awards. Gillian was in town to do that the next day. I just thought it would be fun if she came up and sang a song. She didn’t know any of my songs, but we were going to do a cover of “Helpless” by Neil Young. I got her on the phone and she rehearsed over the phone with the band to get the key she could sing it at. That was that.
April 10th: After the official announcement of The X-Files season 11, Gillian tweeted (source): “You ready for more of this @davidduchovny? #TheXFiles.” David answered (source): “Oh yes, Been ready since ‘93″
April 22nd: Gillian follows David on Instagram.

David just finished touring, he and Tea are no longer together — which is horrible, I love Tea. They have beautiful kids. May 15th: The Upfronts & The Webby Awards
– David and Gillian appeared at The Fox Upfronts with matching injuries. Only two pictures were released (1st pic – 2nd pic), and a few interviews ( David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Explain Their Matching Injuries Talk XFiles – David Duchovny Gillian Anderson on X Files Revival)
– Gillian was awarded for her role in The Fall, and David surprised her (or not), with a funny and memorable speech to give her the award. (video). They left the stage together and shared a cute moment (video)
May 16th: Gillian did a panel conversation for Buzfeed. She said “after seeing the playback from last night’s Webby Awards, David and I walking together, me in crutches and him in sling: That makes me think that may be an old idea. Maybe we should just fucking retire.”
May 17th: Gillian commented on the Webby Awards in an interview (source): “It was hilarious. The whole thing was hilarious,” said Anderson of Duchovny’s presentation. “The fact that we’re both crippled right now is so f—ing funny. And we’re about to start five and a half months of filming, so we’re going to have to heal really quickly. It was just hilarious between that clip and his speech and us both being invalids, it made my year so far.”
