Hello, Anon.
Holly Dale is an experienced Canadian director, I’m not familiar with her work but I’m excited to see new faces on the show. They can bring new ideas, dynamics on the show which is always interesting and can be really refreshing.
Carol Banker has been working on the X-files from 1998-2002 and she played Carol in the episode All Things. (Gillian did list her as one of the directors she would like to see working on the show) She was a director for the lone gunmen series, too. *imagine if the lone gunmen could come back…I mean basically we are bringing back everyone, so why not them?!* She also worked on Californication in 2007 as a script supervisor. She knows the show, she knows the actors and now she’s been given a chance to direct. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does in Season 11!
I think those female directors were already planned for season 11 because you don’t cast directors last minute. I think Gillian didn’t know but it doesn’t matter because it’s still only 4 female directors all together, so nothing to be proud of. I think it has nothing do to with Gillian’s smokescreen-fight for gender equality in txf.
I just hope they didn’t hire them because they’re women but because they’re talented, understand and love the show and its characters.
And she said there is good news for any X-Files superfans hoping to catch a glimpse of the cast while they’re here in town.
“It’s 10 episodes long, this new event series, whereas before I think we only got six. So this is quite a long run and they’ll be with us until almost Christmas. December 21 is when they’re expected to wrap,” she said.
X-Files cast back in Vancouver to shoot season 11 of series revival
The X-Files‘ upcoming 11th season will feature two episodes directed by women, TVLine has learned exclusively. One of the helmers, Carol Banker, has a long history with the franchise, having served as script supervisor on the mothership from 1999-2002 and a director on the short-lived spinoff The Lone Gunmen. X-Filesnewbie Holly Dale, meanwhile, has directed more than 100 hours of episodic TV, including such series as Being Erica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Grimm, Timeless and Reign.
The X-Files Season 11 Update: 2 Female Directors Join Fox Revival

Question: You filmed another revival of the x-files. Was there no angst of being swallowed up by the madness of it??
answer GA: It was manageable. Instead of dyeing my hair I choose to use a wig this time. It’s only 3 SEASONS (?!). And this time around I know how to manage that all.
@justholdinghandsok maybe you get your s12 after all 😀
@alienbaby-babymama I know 😀
And to all the others asking I have no idea what that all means 😀
If they misunderstood seasons for months it would mean she is off by november…maybe she has other things to film who knows and she could do all filming till then I guess…?!
If not… s12… what?!
I think they misunderstood, she said months and they understood seasons. And I think she was referring to season 10, which was 3 months of filming, because at the time of the interview which was probably the Berlinales, she wouldn’t have revealed if she was going to wear a wig or not for season 11. She wouldn’t have revealed to this paper that there is 3 new seasons coming either. I’d love to, but I don’t think so!
